Bourbon Barrel-Aged Peanut Stout

This creamy and colossal peanut stout is nuts. But, our resident archaeologist, historian, brewer, and professor...he’s really nuts. Mad peanut science.

BeerandBlues2 (18499) - Woodland Park, Colorado, USA - JAN 18, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2021 Bottle at home. Pours opaque jet black with a large, bubbly and fizzy brown head, short retention. Moderate rich chocolate, medium toffee and caramel malt, medium-light peanut butter, dates and figs, light alcohol, and a medium sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Aggie80 (923) - Michigan, USA - NOV 8, 2020
UPDATED: NOV 8, 2020 Gift from a student at the end of the class. Dark pour with a bit of tan head that dissipated quickly. I was underwhelmed. The aroma was dark coffee with that barrel aged smell permeating it. No hint of peanuts in the aroma or the flavor. Strong alcohol masks many of the flavors with a hint of bitter coffee in the aftertaste.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2020 Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours black with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is roast, peanuts, bourbon, wood. Slick body, cocoa, peanuts, roast, boozy finish, very nice.

cam0617 (219) - Colroado Springs, Colorado, USA - AUG 13, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 13, 2020 Aroma is not strong for a 15% beer which I enjoy. I love the color, so dark you can't see through it. Very smooth for the percentage of alcohol. High nut flavor which is very enjoyable. Enjoy the beer while it last!

glennmastrange (3404) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 19, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2019 Bottle. Moderate dark bread, no noticeable hops, moderate dough for the yeast, with peanut, raspberry jam, rum in the background. Head is small, wispy, light tan, with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is full, syrupy with a soft carbonation and a sticky and heavily alcoholic finish. A very unique Imperial Stout with great balance in the adjuncts.

drjay44 (4629) - Salida, Colorado, USA - DEC 1, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2018 Pours a medium, well retained, light brown head, over a clear dark (SRM 35) body....nose is heavy roasted malts with chocolate over coffee, whiskey, mild nuttiness, minimal hops, balance to the malts and barrel.....taste is heavy roasted malts with chocolate, then whiskey, vanilla, oak from the barrel, mild sweetness and nuttiness throughout, all with slight final hop tones.....mouth feel, thick creamy body, alcohol present, mild carbonation. Whisky barrel aged Imperial Stouts are lovely and the addition of the peanut was a pleasant contribution. BJCP 10/3/16/5/8
