COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age. 2002 Batch: 12.2% ABV 2003 Batch: 11.9% ABV 2004 Batch: 13.0% ABV 2005 Batch: 11.03% ABV 2006 Batch: 11.04% ABV 2007 Batch: 11.73% ABV 2008 Batch: 10.77% ABV 2009 Batch: 10.82% ABV 2010 Batch: 11.69% ABV 2011 Batch: 10.57% ABV 2012 Batch: 11.1% ABV 2013 Batch: 10.3% ABV 2014 Batch: 8.5% ABV (Separate Listing)

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2022 2006 bottle. Digging into my cellar for the new year 2022. A big cherry note when I pop the cap. Pretty solid black with a few soda like bubbles. A little oxidation, as could be expected. Still very astringent roast malts, kind of a coffee roast still apparent. But also kind of sweet. I'm enjoying it, while admitting that it's gone off, by me hoarding it for so long. Getting a sherry finish, again to be expected of a 15 year old beer

pushkinwow (3602) - Ottawa, CANADA - SEP 9, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2019 2017 bottle from Capones, can't believe I hadn't rated this one. Somewhat translucent brown with a thin light mocha head that fades to nothing. Caramelized brown sugar, fancy molasses, boozy, roasted rye, marmite, moderate+ body and mild carbonation, dry and very little residual sugars or sweetness, nice flavourful drink.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2019 Bomber; Batch No 16, Nov 2016 (ABV 10.6%). Drank by myself on 7th March 2019 while in California, bought at Viejo Liquor, Mission Viejo. Poured three times into a lovely Kasteel chalice, it's dark bodied, very dark brown, the head a lighter hue. Malty and fairly sweet from start to finish with caramel and chocolate notes in both the aroma and taste. Some liquorice and dark fruit hints in the flavours also. Very drinkable.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2018 Czarna barwa, piana ograniczona do obrączki. Pachnie melasą i mokrym surowym ciastem, przyjemnie. Smak bardzo słodki z początku, karmelowy i wyklejający, na finiszu zmienia się w lukrecjową goryczkę. Dobre, bo słodkie?

Earthy, cocoa, roasted malt, some licorice, a strange note my friend characterized as beetroot, but I'm not sure about it. Pitch black color with minimal sized brown head. Sweet chocolate, marmelade, some cocoa and light coconut. Not impressive. Full body, soft carbonation, creamy. Again that strange taste in finish. Ok but I've expected more. //bottle from Beergium

Nearing the end, palate overload on the style. Black pour with small beige head. Roasty and boozy, same as the rest. Chocolate, coffee, bourbon.... you know the style

From a Bottle to a glass. Pours a Dark clear Ruby Burgundy when held upto a bright light. Otherwise looks dark brown almost black in the glass with tan frothy head. Aroma is Dark fruits Dates dark Chocolates rich roasted caramel malts black licorice figs leather some Raisins and Vanilla. Taste follows the aroma with a medium to heavy creamy mouth feel. The taste is a bit stronger than the aromas. Amazing if not the best Stout i ever had. Very impressive! So complex! It has it all!
