Sammy (17445) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2019UPDATED: JAN 23, 2019 on tap at their source. clearly their best. strong coffee in an ale. catches off source.
Capa (4059) - JAPAN - DEC 26, 2017Black with a tan head. Lightly sweetened coffee, chocolate, lightly roasted malt, mild earth, malt. Finish has espresso and light sweetness. One of the better coffee beers I’ve had recently.
asheft (3161) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 29, 2016On tap at brewpub. Potent sweetened coffee aroma with a little milk and toasted hazelnut. Opaque black with clear garnet highlights. Sweet coffee flavour up front, that develops into toasted hazelnuts and a sight red fruit accent. Dry finish and moderate coffee bitterness. Medium light body, moderate carbonation, crisp coffee finish.
dnstone (5952) - Saarland, GERMANY - AUG 22, 2016Smells like a shot of espresso. Looks like a shot of espresso (black with a creamy tan head). Flavor has a bitter black coffee dominance.
Notes: Brewery visit, summer ’13
BelgianBeerGal (5522) - Panama City, Florida, USA - JUN 4, 2016Growler from Hop City Birmingham. Pours a dark chestnut color with a small tan head. Aroma is a nutty, roasted chocolate and coffee. More coffee in the flavor with a hint of sweetness. Thinner body. Pretty nice.
Travlr (30307) - No fixed abode, South Dakota, USA - NOV 22, 2014Draft at Free the Hops FestivAle in Birmingham. Opaque brown color. Aroma of soft roast. Taste is roasty coffee, subtle cocoa. Tasty.
magsinva (1655) - Virginia, USA - MAY 24, 2014Bottle split with the brother - pours pitch, with a white head. What’s that sweet chocolate thing I’m getting? Oh yeah, the fudge I’m eatting with this beer. Sadly, the aroma is burnt coffee and the taste reflects the same. I’m not feeling this one.
DiarmaidBHK (7594) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 24, 2014Bottle from Wish you were beer. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Has a slightly buttery thing on the nose. Tastes like burnt coffee. Not a good beer.
migga (3) - Alabama, USA - APR 2, 2014 does not count Deep coffee flavor without being a novelty. Smokey. Avondale goes a bit light on the ABV on most of their beers - would have preferred more bite in a stout. Overall I’m impressed and was not expecting much out this brew. Compare to Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout.
Cybercat (10436) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 15, 2014Pours an opaque dark chocolate brown - not much head, but this was a short pour from a bottle at the HMOG. Roast coffee aroma is very tempting. Flavor has notes of quality coffee, chocolate and roast malt. No joking. Smooth, firm texture leaves a nice coffee finish.
