superspak (9600) - Greensboro, North Carolina, USA - DEC 23, 2020UPDATED: DEC 23, 2020 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 3/9/2020. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluff off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, red apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, red apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, red apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Feels like Hallertau Blanc and Nelson Sauvin. Very juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; with a nice sized bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive Midwest style example as expected of the brewery.
umich03jm (3512) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - MAY 10, 2016Tap at Baffin. Awesome aroma of dank hops, juicy citrus, pineapple, and flowers. Tastes great too. All the aromas come through in the juicy malt. Getting a slight hint of bubblegum too. Nice mouthfeel that’s a little grainy but works nicely. I have to compare this to Kuhnhenn DRIPA and it holds up incredibly. Tastes like a clone and may actually be better. I’d love to try them side by side.
