COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Medvejie Lake, south of Sitka, is tough as far as lakes go. The steep cliffsides surrounding the glacial lake give it a frequent wind tunnel effect, and it’s only accessible by foot or float plane. Derived from the Russian word for bear, Medvejie is pronounced meh-duh-VEE-gee locally (but probably not in Russia). Our stout is also strong like the bear. Fueled by flaked oats, roasted barley and chocolate malts, it also packs some heat with 7.25% ABV.

Malts: two row, crystal, brown, chocolate, black, flaked oats, roasted barley
Hops: nugget, cascade, willamete

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2019 Draft at Beak in Sitka. Inky pour. Modest head. Chocolate and molasses, a bit sweet, landing in the uncanny valley between sweeter imperial and dry regular stout. Left some sitting on the table.

Draft pour pint at Hop and Hound. Near black pour, thick. Smooth and cool roasted malts. Rich chocolate, with a bold finish. Toasty and warming as an afterthought. A pretty standard stout as an overall, but tasty at that. Nice winter beer.

on draft. This is ok. Very roasty with a thick oily mouthfeel. Maybe its because all the beers ive had here are pretty lame and thin. Dark tan head. Roasty finish.

Draft at williwa, black beer little head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, dark malt, hint of metal. Taste is chocolate, fig, molasses, coffee. Palate is smooth, a bit light for style, but not watery, carbonation moderate. Finish is dry. This is better than I expected.

Aroma: toasted malts, coffee, chocolate. Appearance: black, small, beige head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: bitters continue, aroma repeating itself with toasted flavours, coffee and chocolate notes, medium duration and body. Overall: nice Stout, well-rounded and made, but nothing too innovative.
