Fifty Shades of Gris is a barrel-aged 2016 edition of imperial gruit ale, Grandmaster O.G., a past silver medal winning beer at the Canadian Brewing Awards. The finish is dry and slightly tannic. INGREDIENTS: Local spring water, organic barley malts, organic hops, Labrador tea, organic bog myrtle, organic thyme, organic yarrow, brewer’s yeast. BARRELS: Pinos Gris SERVING TEMP.: 8- 10 C GLASSWARE: Greener Futures

Pours dark orange gold with a small wisp. Aroma is light grains, a touch of grape sweetness. Taste is light, fruity, a little oak. I was hoping for more complexity.

Bottle from the brewery. Batch GF044. Pours a fairly big foamy bubbly white head and dissipates to a nice thin coating. Lively carbonation. Has a slightly hazy golden appearance. Lots of spices are immediately noticeable in aroma, quite strong. A bit thyme, peppery, herbs, grassy and floral. Flavours are herbal and floral, pepper and spices are abundant. The pinot gris notes are quite apparent more towards the finish. A bit of a fizzy and drying mouthfeel. Goes down extremely well considering all the spices and the higher abv%. Great brew all around.

Thanks to AleRider78 for bringing this one back from the brewery. Celebrating Victoria Day weekend and my 100th review from Beau's. Pours a slightly hazed golden-amber colour with a beautiful, almost creamy warm cap, long lasting and adding some creamy lacing. Oh wow... amazing thyme aromas over the sweet fruity malts that give out rye notes. Flavours are so well-blended with the lighter herbs, fruitiness of the pinot gris barrels, tea and malts. A nice mildly dry mouthfeel with a slight bitter finish. This is so good!!

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2018 Bought recently on location as I passed by coming back from VT. I was impressed for a beer aged in a wine cask, this one is not too overwhelming, it is well balanced for a complexed assemblage. Me likes!

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2018 Bottle, shared by Shea at game night. Dark brown with a beige head. Sweetly spicy and woody, dark caramel with vinous notes. Ginger and earthy notes (sage) show up as it warms. Not getting distinct thyme, more sage really, but even that isn't quite it. Intriguing and oddly tasty.

600 ml bottle purchated at the brewery on December 7, 2017. Hazy brownish orange, small head. Spicy orange tea aroma, notes of dry green herbs. Strong hoppy thyme aroma, very dry herbal notes, semi sweet finish. A real thyme bomb!

[9056-20170303] 600mL bottle. Super black pepper and dry grass and thyme aroma. Hazy, orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Thyme pepper explosion has a light fruit flavour. Medium body has a weird gingery pepper note. Really weird, odd pepper notes. (8-/3/6/3/14) 3.4

Lubiere (19735) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2017
A hazed golden ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light white grapeskins, light rosemary, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with loads of rosemary and mint, bubble gum, alcohol warmth, very nice and interesting. Bottle at brewery.

[Bottle (600ml) shared with GregClow, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a cloudy yellow-gold with a small semi-lasting frothy white head. Weird (but not bad) aroma of tea, perfume, spices & herbs, wood and fruit. Interesting flavour of ginger, light wood, tea and a bit of spice in the finish. Average to medium bodied. I didn’t love it but I do appreciate it.
