degbert (1797) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - MAY 30, 2021UPDATED: MAY 30, 2021 Bottle. Dark brown with a soft beige head. Overwhelmingly hoppy; way too hoppy for the style, in my opinion. Finish is almost acrid.
Shag (3519) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - JAN 17, 2021UPDATED: JAN 17, 2021 A dark brown color with a large beige head. Aroma contains some caramel, toffee, and milk chocolate. The flavor is not too sweet but well balanced. Mostly caramel and toffee in there. Overall a great beer and who does malty beer better than Bells? No one.
Bricktop86 (1788) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 28, 2020UPDATED: OCT 28, 2020 Clear red brown with a light tan head. Aroma is toasted bread, earthy, caramel and toffee. Taste is medium sweet and light/medium bitter.
zizzybalubba (2122) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 10, 2020UPDATED: OCT 10, 2020 12 oz. can (canned August 20, 2020). Pour is...brown (what did you expect), with a thin beige head. Aroma of caramel malts and faint floral hops. Taste features caramel, light chocolate, with a faint nutty finish. Is it the 'best brown ale'? As far as non-adjunct brown ales go, yeah, probably.
bigcat03 (568) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - OCT 4, 2020UPDATED: OCT 4, 2020 Can poured into an English pint. Dark ruby brown hue with a thick off white head. Aroma has roasted, chocolate, and caramel malts. Initial taste is much the same as the aroma with a heavier emphasis on roasted notes. Fades to an earthy, roasted mix. Body is a smooth medium with just enough carbonation. Incredibly well done!
PilsnerPeter (3068) - Flushing, New York, USA - OCT 4, 2020UPDATED: OCT 4, 2020 Bottle: Pours amber with a thin tan head. Fruity aroma. Seems a little off. A warm fermentation? Light to medium body. Fruity in the flavor as well. Too much yeast character for a Brown ale. Should be cleaner and more malt driven. Gotta try a different batch.
nearbeer (7699) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 28, 2020UPDATED: SEP 28, 2020 Six pack of 12 ouncers bottled 08/31/20. Clear orange brown with an enduring film of creamy foam. Aroma of cocoa, toasted walnut and touches of orange and caramel. Tastes of the same with a touch of milk chocolate and graham cracker in the finish. Near-medium bodied with a great easy drinking balance. Smooth low-medium carbonation is nice.
voyageurmike (1001) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 27, 2020UPDATED: SEP 27, 2020 12 oz bottle, hazy dark caramel color with small off-white head. Medium body. Roasted malt with slight chocolate aroma. Chocolate is prominent in the taste, followed by a satisfying roasted malt finish. Far less bland than your typical brown ale.
TheAustralian (39) - Colorado Springs, - FEB 7, 2020UPDATED: FEB 7, 2020 Rich and earthy notes, sharp and bitter upon presentation with an aromatic aftertaste.
riggsfc61 (1724) - Franklin, North Carolina, USA - NOV 22, 2019UPDATED: NOV 22, 2019 Found out of bottle. Pours a nice medium brown. Minimal foam. Mild malt aroma. Really good Fall option. Much better malt flavors than the average for the style.
