This the first of 7 beers celebrating a literary classic and one of our favorites, Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman. Brewed to the season, this IPA is made with 100% German malt and hops, putting a European twist on a classic American style.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2021 Backlog. This brew smells of citrusy hops and pale malt. The flavor is hop led with oranges and bready malt. I’m surprised how fruity it is as I didn’t think German hops had that character. Medium body. Well done.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2020 Twelve ounce bottle. Pours a beautiful golden color with a nice head that stays. A floral nose, good mouthfeel and taste too. 'Happiness, not in another place but this place...not for another hour, but this hour.'

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2020 Bottle: Lightly hazy yellow, bubbly....with a white head. Grapefruit, pine aroma....light florals. Taste is sweet and juicy pineapple, orange malt. Good, mild pine and grapefruit-peel bitterness. Really nice.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2020 Bottle thanks to Drake! Hazy gold with an off-white head. Lemon zest, grapefruit zest, light pine, floral hop aroma. Lemon zest, honeycomb, brown leaf, orange rind, light grasses, black tea. Nice.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2019 Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a slight orange hue and a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has a nice light pine with a touch of citrus, some grass and a crisp grain backbone. Flavor has the same nice crisp pine supported by light grass and a bit of citrus.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2019 Earthy pine, grapefruit peel, pineapple, orange, and malt aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with large white head. Moderately sweet pineapple, orange, and mildly bitter pine and grapefruit peel flavor. Good body and balance. Nice.

UPDATED: OCT 6, 2019 Bottle. Grassy hop aroma with notes of bread, biscuit, floral hops and a hint of grapefruit citrus. Pours clear golden colored with a large white head that has excellent retention and decent lacing. Starts with bread and biscuity malt as well as grassy hop flavors. Finishes dry and crisp with floral hop flavors as well as a hint of grapefruit citrus. Pretty good IPA.
