COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A nod to the classic cocktail, Old Fashioned Holiday Ale began as a Scotch Ale that we then aged in bourbon barrels for almost a year, and finished with the additions of orange peel and dried cherry.

TEJA (5075) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 4, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2021 Sampled at Sbwf 2021. Tiny head and a clear pale amber color. Mild roasted and nice caramell malt taste.

hman43 (3700) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - AUG 1, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2021 It pours brown with a tan head. Head retention is average. It has deep caramel aromas with orange. There are some bourdon notes in the background with dried cherry. It has cherry and orange flavors with bourbon. There are caramel flavors in the background. It has a medium full body with smooth alcohol warming. Overall, in the flavor, the orange and cherry with bourbon overrides the Scotch Ale malts.

tightslice (2689) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 9, 2021
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2021 4 pack from ABC liquor in Winter Park, FL. Aroma is scotch ale, caramel, yeasty spiced bread, earthy malts, oaky. Taste is dry and yeasty spiced bread, caramel, earthy oak, tannic. I was hoping for more complex cherry, spiced orange sweetness, bourbon... but at least it wasn't over-the-top cloying (as one might expect).

Brigadier (4590) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 1, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 1, 2021 12 ounce bottle If winter cocktails are a personal favorite then track down a bottle of this novel release. I'm glad I was able to catch some on sale. While it may be a little too warm the next few months it should hold up well into the fall and next winter. AROMA / APPEARANCE Maraschino cherries, bitters, and vermouth nail the profile of a well made Old Fashioned. The boozy texture even adds a bit of authenticity. Only hints of Sprite provide some distraction. The body has a rich chestnut core with minimal dusty head and legs that crawl into the base. FLAVOR / PALATE Vermouth and bourbon slowly warm the throat. The sweet oaky transition ebbs and flows like an Old Fashioned whose mix is just ever so slightly off in favor of whiskey. Even so this was a nice winter seasonal from a brewery who has long maintained top tier status.

hershiser2 (7469) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAR 20, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2021 Bottle with many thanks to Drake! Pours ruby red with a small beige head, light haze to it. Caramel, cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla, black cherry, citrus - probably orange nose. Caramel, bourbon, orange rind, cherry, spice, vanilla, wood, toffee. Light carbonation and it works. Tasty... didn't mean to have a beer this high in abv this early, but oh well.

ctipping (3902) - Florida, USA - FEB 21, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 21, 2021 12 oz. bottle. Pours like cola and quite flat. Smells of bourbon, citrus, and cherry. The scotch ale serves as a backdrop, but it's definitely got the Old Fashioned aroma going on. Tastes more of the scotch ale. Slick body, caramel and toffee malt. Bourbon throughout, lots of oak. Sugar soaked cherry. Citrus peel and some bitterness. Medium heavy and quite flat. It does a great job of creating the Old Fashioned profile without being a monsterously sweet beer. Enjoyable, if not something I need again.

ads135 (7114) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 28, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2020 Definitely lives up to the name. Orange and cherry in particular quite prominent, but the boozy bourbon makes a solid appearance as well. A little too sweet for my tastes, whether beer or cocktail. Creative.

puboflyons (4654) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 27, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2020 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle packaged 10/14/2020. Chestnut-amber pour with ruby red highlights and a modest beige head. Malt forward aroma with Bourbon and wooden notes, licorice, peat, orange, and cherry. Heavy body. The cherry expresses itself more in the taste along withy the sweetness of the malts. Warming finish.

Scipio (2133) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - DEC 27, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2020 Pours a clear, very deep amber, almost brown actually. Medium beige head. The aroma is toasted malt, vanilla, whiskey, oak, raisin, caramel, and cherry. Sweet taste. Cherry is most prominent on top of a foundation of vanilla and whiskey. Underneath these is toasted malt, fig, cinnamon, spice, cola, raisin, and a touch of orange. Quote a bit going on with this one. Long and mild fish of cherry and cinnamon. Full in body and thick in texture. Drinking just one of these will work just fine. Its not amazing but it hits the spot as a perfect holiday treat.

gripweed57 (5605) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - DEC 25, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2020 12 ounce bottle. Mahogany brown color. Brief beige head. Toasted malt nose has notes of sweet cherry cordial and orange peel. Earthy, oakey malt flavor. Sweet flavors of cherry and orange. Remarkably smooth for the high ABV.
