COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Since 1911 the St. Ulrich’s Festival is celebrated in the brewery yard of the Berg Brauerei Ulrich Zimmermann, and a beer especially brewed for this day is poured out. This "Brown Ale" is a golden special beer according to the brew process of the good old days. Stored cool for a long time it matures gently by the rules of the art of craft brewing."

snowcrash000 (1790) - Cologne, GERMANY - SEP 30, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 30, 2021 Pours a crystal clear, deep golden amber coloration with a small, frothy head. Smells of bready, slighty grainy, toasted and caramelly malt and grassy, herbal hops. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of bready, slightyl grainy, toasted and caramelly malt and grassy, herbal hops, as well as a certain nuttiness and just a hint of dark fruit also coming through. Finishes with a light bitterness and some dark malts and grassy hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation. This makes for a rather nice Amber Lager with a clear focus on the dark malts, although some grassy, slightly bitter hops are also coming through, creating a very pleasant overall balance here. It's that certain toasted, nutty character with just a touch of dates which stands out here though, although this still remains a rather light and easy-drinking beer at heart. Overall, this makes for an enjoyable Amber Lager that strikes a great balance of sweet and bitter notes, easy-drinkability and subtle richness of malt-forward character, although feeling just a tad light-bodied.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2020 Bottle picked up from Die Bierothek® München and consumed at home Attenkirchen, Saturday 14th March 2020, we moved here one year ago this weekend! (tomorrow to be exact) we're listening to The Murder Capital - When I have Fears. We're making Spice Marinated Beef Kebabs, Aubergine Rolls and I was going to make an Ice Cream but we'll have that tomorrow now. I am amazed that this is a brown ale???. Pours dark gold/light amber, good clarity and with a white head. Sweetness shows, a little honey, maltiness, Brown Ale, really?? it's ok, no great shakes.
