COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark brown ale is slightly sweet with a caramel and dark fruit finish. A show case of fine English malts, floor malted the old way. We use pale, chocolate, and crystal malts to produce a complex, but easy drinking dark ale. Very reminescent of northern English ales.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2018 Found out of bottle from a variety pack. Nice appealing brown pour and odd copper smell. It has flavor but not good ones. The first part is like sucking on a bad penny with an aftertaste of charcoal.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2019 5 week old can A: Clear dark reddish brown pour with 1/2' of bubbly tan foam that held the ring and cap. S: Bitter chocolate and faint roast coffee. T: Follows the nose with roasty chocolate, coffee and a nice woody bitterness. But where's the caramel? M: Smooth and thin texture, light carbonation and sticky finish. O: Pretty good if not very complex.

Bottle from Sam's Quik Shop. Pours brown with a small head. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa, roasted nuts. Flavor is cocoa, roasted nuts, coffee, something else.... Simple, but decent.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2018 Dark brown pour with moderate tan head and lacing. Aroma is acetone, licorice, and ground coffee. Taste is much more pleasant, some coffee and a tiny bit of chocolate, something else I can't figure out. Finish is pretty clean.

Bottle from Harris Teeter in Asheville, CA. Aroma is soupy roasted barley soup, vegetal hops, okra. Taste is soupy, grainy and vegetal with some tang in the finish. A very tangy but Randy Porter if Randy Porter were what you thought it was.

This beer is a clear brown color with a medium light beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Roast malt, chocolate and slight hops in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, nuts and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Not bad, a bit thin in body, but overall a good representation of the style. Certainly malt forward, subtle bready and fruity notes. Nice.

Poured a deep brown. Mild head. Pretty nutty. Some toffee. An ok brown nothing spectacular.

This one is good and has some punchy malt flavors. I’ve certainly had worse brown ales. The aroma could be a little more pungent, but still it has plenty of that brand cereal notes with a sweet underbelly. Taste follows with lots of cereal, brand flakes, toasted bread, toasted malt, grains and faint leather with a smooth sweet sugary character in the background. Finish is slighly sticky and malt...pretty much what you’d expect.
