mabuzzer (1811) - Hamilton, SCOTLAND - MAY 29, 2021UPDATED: MAY 29, 2021 440ml can from Sainsbury's. Black beer with a very thin and short lived tan head. Lots of chocolate, coffee, vanilla aromas and flavours. But not much coconut, and I'm OK with that
tombyars (2187) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - MAY 27, 2021UPDATED: MAY 27, 2021 440ml can purchased from Sainsbury's in Irvine and sampled on the 16th May 2021. Murky black mahogany in colour with a quick effervescent tan head that vanished in under a second - got to be the quickest dissipating head that I've come across! No lacing. Light malty aroma with vague hints of dark chocolate and coconut. Thin watery mouthfeel. Dark malts give a burnt maltloaf base with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and light coconut. Cannot detect any hop resins in the aftertaste. Finish is malty with dark chocolate, roast malt, vanilla and again weak coconut water evident in the mouth. A bit on the thin side and lacking a bit of oomph.
thevortex (585) - , SCOTLAND - MAY 16, 2021UPDATED: MAY 16, 2021 Black with a frothy tan head, vanilla, coconut, chocolate aroma, light to meduim body, smooth light roast malt, chocolate, light coconut and vanilla.
flying_pig (2680) - IRELAND - MAR 7, 2021UPDATED: MAR 7, 2021 440ml can from Oddbins:
Very dark brown, almost black with an opaque body & a large, foamy head that's tan brown with a creamy surface & starts just under 3cm tall before reducing to about half a cm tall. It's a sweet nose with coconut & some vanilla on top of milk chocolate notes & dark malts with some hazelnut /praline in there too. The taste is dominated by dark malts, chocolate & the coconut from the nose. It's a little more nutty at the end than it was with the nose, some of the praline again coming through strong. It's smooth beer though with a medium body, subtle carbonation & plenty of sweetness throughout.
