COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison D’Epeautre is a saison beer made in a unique traditional style, using spelt and barley malt in the mash. Very dry and light in body, with a hint of wheaty tartness and a hardy texture that expresses the character of spelt, a primitive strain of wheat. It is one truly feisty brew, with an outrageous pop and a natural long-lasting head. And ah, the aroma! It’s a wonderfully heady, musty, cellar character that is unmistakably Belgian and a lot like champagne. The taste delivers on the promise of the nose. Very enjoyable, and perfect for summer, but wonderful at any time of year. D’Epeautre is hand-brewed in small batches by the impassioned, gifted Blaugies brewers, a husband, wife, and son team. They’re very adventurous in recreating traditional beer styles – and are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The family enjoys good food and beer, and consumes a lot of its own product for cooking and drinking. We like the rougher, grainier malt texture of all their beers. They give you the feeling that the brewers put this beer in a bottle just a few days ago, especially for you.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2021 37,5 cl bottle. The cork blew off alone with a strong noise and a very little gushing followed. Nice cloudy golden color with white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is earthy, honeyish, leathery, cloves, grainy, hay. Taste is cereals, earthy, something sulphuric, grassy. Medium carbonation, extremely refreshing. Great saison.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2021 On tap@ koht/Moonshine Bar, Tallinn. Vom Fass wohl was echt Rares! Naturtrübes gelbes Bier, feiner heller Schaum. Sehr charaktervoller Duft. Würzige Hefe, Holzfass, Baumrinde, Grappa ohne Alkohol. In der Nase sicher nichts für Anfänger! Geschmack ist auch do. Apfel, strange Hefe, Holz. Holziger Kork Abgang. Bin ich etwas ratlos. Es ist sehr eigen, aber leider nicht Meins. Aber in der Kategorie dennoch was Spezielles.

snowcrash000 (1790) - Cologne, GERMANY - AUG 29, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2020 Pours a clear, golden coloration with a medium, frothy head and slightly visible carbonation. Smells of slightly bready, grainy malt and estery fruit and spice notes of green apple, pear gooseberry and clove. Taste is a great balance of slighty bready, quite grainy malt, floral hops and expressive fruity and spicy yeast esters of tart green apple, pear, gooseberry, clove and white pepper, as well as some grassy hay. Finishes semi-dry, with a light sweetness and tartness, as well as some green apple, gooseberry and clove lingering in the aftertaste. Effervescent, velvety mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation. A very nice Saison with a great balance of grainy malt, floral hops and estery fruit and spice notes, with a rather dry character, mild tartness and lightly sweet and bitter accents, as well as a great, velvety mouthfeel. Your typical, old-school Belgian Saison, but with quite expressive esters and a truly lovely balance, making this a joy to drink.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2020 Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a murky amber colour with a huge fast dissipating foamy white head. Aromas of apricots, lemon, lemonrass, coriander, gooseberry, apples, pears, spice, floral and light herbs. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma, fruity, spicy and also some tartness. Light bodied with average carbonation and a dry finish. Has a slight champagne like feel on the palate. Very refreshing and an excellent beer to enjoy on a hot day.
