Cakes (695) - New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 17, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2021 One Pint Can. Sure- they got bought out by InBev-(Like most everybody else). Still I remember drinking this beer in the late 70's all over the U.K. and today- I finally got to have it again. Of Course it is better on tap but even in the can- where it has been widely available for decades, it is a real treat in the lunch-a-box, or in the litttle Pick-a-nick basket. It is sweet has honey, has an appealing nose, not too sweet with a medium mouthfeel and pours a dark gold.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2021 Pint sized can from Total Wine (Triangle), Raleigh, NC (best before March 2022). Pour is yellowish-orange with a creamy white head. Aroma of pale malt and faint bittering hops. Taste is very light with only traces of sweet malt and even less in the way of true bitterness. Nothing really offensive but nothing that would make me want to try this again.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2021 Creamy, medium body sitting on sides of the tongue. Hints of banana. Pretty good for a cheap pint

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2021 Honestly I don't see why this is allegedly bad. Yeah an inbev and the like. A creamy clear english ale with toffees and mild bitters, available for 9 bucks a 4 pack at your crappy local grocery store. Not everything needs to be a triple dry hopped mango lactose sour, people.

MNAle (640) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 28, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 28, 2021 The rattle lets you know that this is a nitrogenated beer, going for the simulated cask feel. (Or, as AB-Inbev calls it, the DRAUGHTFLOW® SYSTEM). Appearance is crystal clear golden amber with an almost still appearance (very sparse tiny bubbles once the nitro settles) beneath a typical nitro head - dense, white, thick and very, very long-lasting. It leaves peaked lacking behind after you tip to drink. Aroma is subdued, faint even, but has elements of biscuit, sweetness (honey), and fruit. Taste, like the aroma, is subdued, but has the expected flavors of an English pale ale. Biscuit, grassy, ripe fruit, honey, perhaps a touch of caramel. It takes some concentration (and perhaps imagination) to parse all those flavors out. But, it is surprisingly enjoyable as your basic English beer. There is a mild bittering that starts in the middle and carries through to the aftertaste. The aftertaste bitterness does tend to grow a bit as you drink, but it remains smooth and mild. Feel is thin and smooth, which is, I suppose what they were going for with the nitro (sorry, DRAUGHTFLOW® SYSTEM). It does a passable imitation of the cask feel in that it is smooth and not carbonated without feeling flat. Quite similar to Guinness, in fact. Overall, a beer to enjoy when you just want something that is not too challenging and is just pleasant. It could use a bit more complexity, though, if you were going to make an evening of these.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2020 Pours a nitrogenated golden with a solid white head. Aroma of golden malt. Taste has light bitterness, typical British malt. Palate has lingering bitterness on the roof of the tongue. Good.

0,474 Can.

-whitey- (10) - - MAY 27, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 27, 2020 Pours clear and golden, filtered, smooth nitro head. Honey and grass on the nose. Very smooth, slightly hoppy, sweet/honey, and grassy all the way through. Did I say very smooth? Due to nitro. Very drinkable/session-able beer. One I can go back to time and time again.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2020 1st drank this in a UK pub in 1971. Liked it then and decided to try it again a few months ago,.. after getting burnt out on super fizzy micro brew pale ales and pilsners,.. and also feeling overwhelmed flavor and hop wise from all the new IPA's out there these days. So,.. bought a 4 pack of 16oz Boddingtons at my local this past January. remembering it as being smooth and subtle. Wow,.. what a perfect move on my part. After the 1st can,.. I realized this was exactly the brew I've been craving! Light in carbonation, very mild flavor wise,.. but still tasty. Creamy head and super smooth feel in mouth. Mellow and pleasing aroma of crackers/banana/spices. Totally digestible without all the burping and bloating. Low alcohol of 4.7%. meaning I can have a few and still drive without worry. This is all I drink now,.. LOVE IT!
