UPDATED: MAR 7, 2021 Backlog October 2009 as Boelens Santa Bee. Amber body with floaters and a huge beige head. Aroma of malt and mild spices. Taste is sweet malt and honey with some kind of sourness. Drinkable but feels a bit unbalanced.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2020 330ml Bottle of 'Santa Bee' from Beer Shop, Bruges, Belgium. Aged for around 1 year in the Beer Shop! Dark amber-brown coloured with a thick white head of foam. It has a rich, spicy cherry and dried fruity flavour followed by a chocolate, cherry and oak finish. Excellent!

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2020 330ml bottel [as Santa Bee]. Opalescent, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and huge, firm, frothy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, caramel malty aroma, rather waxy, hoppy overtones with a grassy and floral touch. Taste is minimally sweet, caramel malty and grassy, herbal hoppy, slightly fruity, slightly sugary, notes of caramel, rock sugar, a touch of brown sugar, hints of dark berries, plum, sweet cherry, a touch of port, dry hoppy counterpart. Sadly quite overcarbonated in such an amount, that the prickly effect on the tongue prevents a more intense sensation of flavours.

Bottle from Beerwulf, thx to a friend, as Santa-Bee. Thought I would have rated this already, but apparently not. Slight hazy copper color, medium frothy head. Aroma of caramel and toasted malts, slight autumn spices, bit molasses. Bit sweet in taste, slight burned caramel. Decent belgian strong ale.

330ml brown bottle, unfiltered, from BeerWulf as Santa Bee. 8.5% abv. Yep. Malty beer. Yep. Malty beer. Oh yes. I like this. Malty beer. Yep. Malty beer. I love malty beer.

Cette Santa Bee est bien brouillonne, dommage car elle possède des arômes intéressants. Mais trop peu d'équilibre pour qu'elle soit réellement appréciable. On ne peut cependant lui retirer la chaleur nécessaire pour en faire une bière d'hiver avec un alcool très efficace. Robe brune, foncée (EBC aux environs de 50), la mousse beige nappe à peine la surface de la bière. Le nez est plutôt aérien, sur des arômes complexes mais peu équilibrés de café, caramel, pruneaux, fruits confits et porto, le tout sous un alcool bien présents (8,5 % Abv, paraissant davantage). A la dégustation, l'attaque se rapproche du nez, des épices en complément, mais également avec une présence acidulée perturbante. La deuxième bouche se déséquilibre complètement, avec d'un côté l'alcool, bien présent et de l'autre la présence acidulée liée aux fruits noirs et aux épices. L'ensemble est particulier, dissonant. L'arrière bouche, instable, manque d'ampleur. Il se porte davantage sur le malt avec des arômes de pruneau, café et chocolat. La troisième bouche dans la continuité de la seconde est la plus intense aromatiquement (et ça envoie pas mal notamment sur l'alcool), mais également la plus fraîche avec le duo amertume/acidulé, avec des arômes prépondérants de fruits confits et de porto. Le final, retombe quant à lui pour rester sur le malt. Trop disparate, on ne comprend pas réellement le conte d'hiver de cette Santa Bee.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2018 Licht, zoetige donkere. Wat typische kerstsmaken door wat specerijen en gebrande mout. Prima!

zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is krachtig, lichtzoet en kruidig met iets van zoethout, anijs en drop. Mooi kerstbier, niet te zoet en mooi in balans.
