COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sometimes the stars align so the seemingly simple can be turned into something sublime. This magic concoction from our alchemist brewers is one such instance. Here, layers of espresso and roasted fig flavors slowly emerge, while Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness. Noble German hops add spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2020 Pours with nice foamy head...smell is dark roasted malts with a little sweetness...taste is the same...good complexity...finishes a little more bitter than I like...light milkiness but definitely a dark roasted malt kind of straight up beer rather than one with lactose... Had Thanksgiving day 2020 in Florida with Aunt while watching TV and making zoom calls...

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2020 Color comes in as inky black as one would expect an imperial stout to be. The carbonation produced a fair amount of head, which was surprising because other beers of this style produced little or no head. Aroma of this brew definitely had the familar bittersweet chocolate I've come to expect. It was reminiscent of bakers chocolate. Also, some dark fruits, like maybe plums, raisens and cherries. The flavor was the bittersweet chocolate with an expresso vibe. This was smooth and creamy all the way down. This actually drank more like a porter. It's also noteworthy that the alcohol was well concealed. Given the fact that this can cellar for a while, it would interesting to see how then flavor would change. Overall, I buy this again for sure.

Pours almost black with a tan head. Roasted malt sweetness is balanced well with the hops. Creamy and full-bodied with soft carbonation. Notes of biscuit, coffee and unsweetened chocolate. Nice long lasting dry finish. A solid example of the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2019 Btl pours a seriously dark black color with a huge fluffy dark tan head that leaves lace all over glass. Smells of cocoa, coffee, toasted bread, yeast, molasses and minerals. Tastes of dark ripe fruits, yeast, bakers chocolate, toast, licorice, & espresso. Big body, soft, velvety mouthfeel, tingly carbonation and a dry, spicy finish. I really like this stout!
