Arbitrage411 (73) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2022
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2022 Pours a cloudy amber highlighted liquid with thinnish, non lasting head. Spicy florals on the nose. Stronger wine alcohol though not unpleasant taste. Candied flavors, toffee and caramel ? which remain on the tongue. ABV 14.3 this version provides a bona fide warmth along with wet and mild finish.

Gerbeer (5947) - Nanoose Bay, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 17, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2021 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear brown with cola like head that settles quickly. Aromas of caramel, raisins, oak, rye and toasted malts. Flavours of raisin bread, sweet rye, bread crust, caramel and soft rye whiskey. Alcohol heat in finish is nice without being distracting.

gripweed57 (5605) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - SEP 22, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 22, 2021 12 ounce bottle. Label indicates 14.3% ABV and 33 IBU’s. Tawny mahogany brown color has reddish highlights. Brief beige head is gone in a flash. Earthy, toasted malt aroma hints at brown sugar and oak. Tangy, sweet grainy malt flavor upfront. Notes of rye whiskey and vanilla bean. Amazingly smooth and drinkable at 14.3% ABV. There is a subtle complexity that brings notes of toffee, dried fruits, preserved lemon, rye whiskey, Belgian candi sugar and oak barrel. This is categorized as a Rye / Roggenbier, but could easily be a Barleywine. Thoroughly enjoyable.

chinhaez (155) - Ouray, Colorado, USA - APR 10, 2021
UPDATED: APR 10, 2021 12 oz bottle. Visually a somewhat dirty brown color with a small beige head that dissipates to a fine ring around the glass. The aroma is distinct with caramel, toffee and perhaps some prunes. The taste is toffee, raisins and dates. Also, in the taste, a bit of subtle cinnamon and some light allspice. A bit of underlying sweetness too, probably from the caramel. The palate is light-medium but seems appropriate to the style. Carbonation is soft and understated. Finishes long and a bit cloying. Paired well with some Ritz crackers. I'm a bit surprised to see it was aged in Templeton Rye barrels, my favorite rye whiskey, as I did not get much of the Templeton flavor. Overall: a joy to drink.

Carlisle (1406) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 6, 2020
2018. Bottle. Pours brown with thin, light beige head that dissipates quickly. Vanilla, caramel, and slight tart note on the nose with a touch of alcohol. Vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, and raisins on the palate. Some alcohol in the medium-length finish. Medium body.

Listigovers (2149) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 1, 2020
UPDATED: OCT 1, 2020 Pours a slightly hazy amber brown colour, but what I smell is whiskey. Just whisky. Quite sweet and malty, but tons of rye whisky. Tastes quite sweet but a huge barrel flavour, dangerously good for 13%.
