COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
How can a style as elegant and refined as pilsner be "amped up" to imperial status? The answer, as Spinal Tap guitarist Nigel Tufnel might say, is simple: you go to eleven. With its classic recipe and impeccable craftsmanship, Reverb Imperial Pilsner echoes our Collaboration No. 1 Imperial Pilsner, produced in 2009 with esteemed Belgian brewmaster Jean-Marie Rock. Like its predecessor, this summer seasonal is a study in delicately balanced contrasts. Up front, Pilsner malt makes a clear yet restrained statement, answered by the steady, harmonious hum of Saaz hops, traces of which linger in the dry, crisp finish. Rock on.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2021 Bottle from East 1st Grocer in Austin, TX dated 2014. Aroma is malty, herbal candy, sweet grass. Taste is earthy malt, golden raisins, herbal sweetness, lots of grass on the finish, some bitterness. Thought this might be too aged but overall still getting what I imagine to be imperial pils (pretty sure this is my first one).

Rating #1933 - 2015.09.25 #CraftTakesSeattle Day 2, Beer 33 - Hazy yellowish amber pour with a lasting white head, thick and frothy. Lots of aromas here,Saazy hoppiness present as well as some caramel, and a spiciness. Taste is bold Saazy hops, tempered with a sweet, bready consistency that disguises the alcohol content. Finish is quite dry, lingering pleasant spicy burn. Gorgeous strong pilsner.

(Bottle) Golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of bready malt, citrus, mandarin, grass, hay, peaches and fresh floral hops. Malty, fruity taste with bread, citrus (grapefruit, lemon peel), peaches, grass, hints of resin and a generous grassy, floral bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Hides the alcohol level quite well. Tasty and well made with a fresh hop character. Nice one.

Pours a deep golden yellow. Nice aromas of hops/citrus/peppery. Nice hoppy flavor, spicy/pepper, alcohol shows up in the back end.

Pale golden color with a white head and decent lace. Pale malt, plenty of hops and some hints of fresh bread. Fairly sweet. Reminded me of a malt liquor from long ago – Great Dane Pre Pro Memorial Malt Liquor. Malty, hoppy, tasty. 6/12

750 ml bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar. Nose of grass, hay, hard candy, white bread, grain. Clear gold in the glass with a decent white head and slight lacing. Well balanced, it has some sweetness but not overwhelming, quite dry on the tongue given the high abv and low hop rate. A refreshing imperial pilsner that goes down easy on a hot day and packs a punch. Has a fruity character uncommon in pilsners. I have really been impressed with the smokestack series overall.

750 ml corked bottle pour split. A little past the best by date, but I adopted it from the store shelf this way and treated it equally. Pours a dense yellow orange color with a grainy aroma with light hops. Refreshing, unique pilsner with a dry finish. Another solid effort out of the smokestack series. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Nose is grains, corn, syrup and hints of grains and marzipan. Taste is alcohol, marzipan, maize and hints of grains and mild grass. Medium to light body and medium carbonation. Not bad for the style, but then again the style isn’t very nice to begin with.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours yellow with a white head. Taste sweet, grassy, fruit. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
