ARH (1141) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2015On tap, poured into a sampler glass. The aroma is nutty with caramel and dough notes, as well as a slightly medicinal funk. The beer is dark and oily looking with a caramel colored hue, and a generous fluffy, off white head that has decent retention and lace. The taste is a medium, malty sweet and medium light bitter that strengthens to medium near the end of the drink. The beer is fairly thick and syrupy with a light, fizzy carbonation and a medium full roated body flavored with bread and figs / raisins and a bit of a bitter wax note. The finish has a spicy zip leading to an aftertaste that’s waxy and cloying with flavors of fig and warmed caramel with a hint of wax.
