COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich, round and roasted, our Oatmeal Stout is satisfaction in a glass. It's a bold, smooth-bodied concoction that oozes dark-roasted coffee aromas and flavors of espresso and semi-sweet chocolate. We round out these heady pleasures with a dose of flaked oatmeal for a creamy body and a semi-dry finish. Unforgettable.

4/2020. Cornavid19 shut down. Sheltering in place. Looking for comfort in NY. The copy writers should be paid extra for this description. Enticing, but no where near descriptive. Try again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2019 I'm with the 'this is a good but forgettable stout' crowd. Not sure to call it a sweet or dry, but I'd say more on the dry side. The chocolate malt and oat flavors are there, with a semi-creamy texture from the oatmeal. Roast coffee and burnt molasses/sugar give some bitterness. I certainly would not turn this down, but not seeking to buy again. Has potential though. Could see it being better fresh on tap.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2019 02-May-15 (12-oz bottle: Sample bottle from the distributor)
This is an Oatmeal Stout that I last sampled in 1998 and I thought it was pretty bitter back then. It pours a dark-brown body with caramel edges. The tan head rises to half an inch before settling to a thin ring and patchy dusting. The nose is noticeably roasty and significantly burnt for an Oatmeal Stout. And on the palate, burnt, very dark-roasted malts dominate, but there's still quite a lot of oatmeal flavor, some dark chocolate, and grassy hops. It's not very sweet at all, and yeah, roasty and hoppy bitterness is readily apparent, so maybe I wasn't so far off back then. The beer is medium-plus in weight, medium in carbonation, and quite dry on the palate. Overall, this is more roasty that I like for this style, but it's still enjoyable for a dark, roasty stout.

23 oz. bottle pours a translucent dark brown with creamy beige head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is all roasted barley, with mild coffee and mild chocolate. I couldn't detect the oatmeal. Taste is initially sweet and malty but the finish is bitter, Body is at most medium with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. OK, but not one I'll return to enthusiastically.
