TOKYO STOUT - Aged In Whisky Barrels. Tokyo amplified. Black as a Ninja’s robe, an Origami of flavours unfold. Floral jasmine and sweet cranberries are layered over the indulgent big sour stout beneath. Poached prunes, deep notes of raisin and roasty chocolate flavours compete with the seismic sourness. Finishes with the complex malt and alcohol warmth expected of Tokyo. Jasmine creeps back again as mouth-watering acidity plays out.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2021 Keg at BrewDog Seven Dials. Even though BrewDog seem to have given up on making innovative, amazing beers, there’s still a little Ray of hope in Overworks. This is bloody tasty. Black with no head. Aroma of big cooked Blackcurrant, light balsamic hints and pomegranate molasses. It’s thick and complex and melding excellently between sourness and sweetness, and the alcohol is complementing it expertly. I think this is actually quite an accessible Beer as well, but it’s really tasty. I loved Tokyo*, but this has become an entirely different beast. Best BrewDog beer for a while.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2021 This is a very tart sharp beer. Dark fruits, lots of cranberry sourness. Not much “stout” about it other than the color. Unique big beer for sipping. Hopcult dresden

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2021 The rain prompted me to crack this open: Brewdog Overworks Arcade City 10% Tokyo Stout Aged in Whiskey Barrels Deep black with ruby highlights and no foam. The aroma is tart berry and the medium to full body gives you a first impression of sherry, Tart berries, soy chocolate stout but mostly berries. Good but very tartly sweet with the whiskey barrel mostly showing up in the aftertaste. Based on the label this isn’t what was intended as it’s veered into oud Bruin type territory but tasty.
