tmoreau (7963) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 8, 2022UPDATED: JAN 8, 2022 Draft at the BubbleHouse taproom as a flight serving showing a black/brown hue, with some ruby highlighting, a bubbly layer of off white froth that produced a thin ring, minimal film, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was roasted, mocha notes with an edge to dry coffee, woody, smoky and slightly spiced. Medium bodied, the taste was similar notes, with lively carbonation, and a pleasantly dry finish. Didn't catch the touch of cherry which would've offered a bit of extra complexity, but no harm.
DrnkMcDermott (3730) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - DEC 22, 2021UPDATED: DEC 22, 2021 5 oz. flight glass. Just a tiny scrum of bubbles by the time I got to this, atop of blackish brown beer bed. The smell has nice cocoa and coffee to it. That is also in the taste. Smoked rye stays in the background instead of coming out like a smoked ham. For a porter, though, it seems a little thin. But then again, it's pretty light in alcohol. Final result is solid, more to my idea of a holiday beer.
crossovert (17015) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 5, 2021UPDATED: DEC 5, 2021 Draft. Dark brown black pour. Aroma is caramel, cocoa, and rye smoke. It smells really nice and inviting. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, and smokiness, well rounded and drinkable porter.
