imdownthepub (22082) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2020UPDATED: MAR 9, 2020 Bottled, 330ml aged 5yrs from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Black with tan head. Darkly roasted malts to the fore, burnt oak notes, bittering, liquorice, dark bitter fruit notes. The hops are well amalgamated into the beer so part of the flavour rather than fighting against it. Big alcohol notes, almonds, apricots. Fiery throughout. Very good.
caribou43 (2456) - Lausanne, SWITZERLAND - DEC 3, 2019UPDATED: DEC 3, 2019 Another story than the bad brewer. I have purchased this beer, at the sterk, at Amsterdam, during my first trip there. Tasting and enjoying this beverage, at Bonfol, during august 2018, hot and dry. Even the hot climate, this black ipa was wonderful, black and opaque, average carbination, white and brown foam. The taste is powerful, roasted malt, vanilla, plum, coffee, warm alcool, subtle and complex, finish of hop, a pleasure for the soul.

Heidbummer (1935) - SCOTLAND - JUN 8, 2018Keg, Salt Horse. Deep black/brown, thin head. Nose is toast and roast malt. Initial taste seems to be a straightforward dry roasted malt dark lager/IPA, but then it opens up into something barley wine like. The abv us dangerously hidden. Good stuff.
