COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpah is a range of 3 single hop beers, each made from a unique and singly type of hop, hence the name. That’s why it’s a single hop. The 3 hop varieties selected come from 3 different continents and bring a large variety of flavors directly linked to the characteristics of the land of those countries: United States (Chinook) New-Zealand (Wai-ti) France (Aramis). The declinations of Torpah, 30 – 60 – 90, refer directly to the IBU (bitterness index) present in each of those beers. This induces you to taste them all to see the progressive intensity of the bitterness and the work that has been achieved around each hop.
Note: Draft version produced at Brasserie {C} in Liège, bottled beer brewed at Belgo Sapiens in Nivelles.

Zilverenmaan (709) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JUL 26, 2019
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2019 Bottle from Willems. Pours dark blond, a little oily and hazy. Aroma: loads of hops, tropical fruits, oily, a little piney, very spicy, clean. Taste: decent to very bitter, not too dominant, leaving some room for the same impressions as with the aroma. Very grainy MF, lightly roasted even. Fairly straightforward but very strong aroma and taste, I like it!

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2019 Bitter hops and green apple flavours. Malty backnote. Slightly sweet floral aromas. Quite zingy and light in body. A tad bitter for my tastes but ok for just the one.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2018 Mooi geel kleurend bier met weinig schuim. Het bier smaakt perzik fruitig, citrus achtig en een klein beetje kruidig. De nasmaak is puur bitter van de hop.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity, hoppy aroma with a touch of glue, hints of green apple parings, some gooseberry, sweet-ish, biscuity, caramel malty background. Taste is bitter hoppy, slightly fruity, minimally mineral and medicamentous, hints of green apple and gooseberry, weak pale malty basis. Slightly unbalanced, too bitter, or at least too monotonously bitter.

Tasting as part of a comparison between 3 Torpah's, all the same beers, but all with different single hops. The Torpah-90 uses Chinook. Bottle pours slightly hazy golden, with a near-white head, lasting well. The aroma is surprisingly soft, especially for an American single hop. But the taste is far more clear: citric, zesty, at least medium bitter, light sour, grapefruit indeed; astrong bitter aftertaste (which overrules the other Torpah's in comparison). The most hoppy/bitter of the three, the most explicite, and (although nearly out of balance) to me the most interesting.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured a hazy golden colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, tropical fruit, buttery yeast, fresh hop. The flavour is moderate sweet with a crisp fresh yeasty, citrus fruit, light spicy, dry hop bitter palate.

Can. A hazy dark golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of hops, straw, malt, and spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, hops, and citrus fruits, leading to a bitter finish.
