teorn88 (7715) - MACAU - DEC 30, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2021 75cl bottle. It pours a clear ruby color with a medium white head. Aroma is pungent red fruits, red grapes, red currants, ripe fruits, tannins. Taste is medium sweet, light acidity, fairly complex for the young age, nice fruity presence with some funk, red grapes and berries, more tannins. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, one of the best Cantillon red grape lambics for sure.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2021 Bottle. Pours dark red with a pinkish head. Notes of oak, citrus, dark fruits, some green apple-like notes, lightly tannic, sweet, bright. Beautiful now, expecting a banger with some age!

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2021 Thanks for sharing this 🐳 Ryan. 2018 Bottled on 12/22 which is my mom's birthday. beautiful pinkish red color with nice head. Nose and flavor of fresh farm manure, sweet grape, bramble berry, vanilla oak, hibiscus, rooibos, strong vino, cherry, grape skins, and loon bugs. A little overly farm funky at times, but still digging it. Cantillon still producing the best grape lambics.

ctipping (3902) - Florida, USA - SEP 13, 2020
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2020 750 mL bottle. Clear bright purple. Smells immediately of baby diaper. Some yogurt and grape behind it. Tastes of strong grape. Earthy, berry-like grape. Vinous acidity. Oaky back end. Light carbonation. Well integrated grape flavor, even if it is the strongest flavor. Works very well.

Alengrin (9649) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 9, 2020
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2020 Yet another new grape lambic from the present-day pioneer of grape lambics, this time with an actual connection to their pioneering work: the idea to use Grenache Noir grapes in lambic comes from De Vini, the winemaker that provides the Viognier grapes used in Vigneronne, the first grape lambic ever made by Cantillon – and therefore the first one made in our modern time as well. Regularly shaped, pale pinkish-white, mousy, slowly opening head on an initially clear, deep and beautifully glowing ruby red robe with vague burgundy tinge, turning misty with sediment. Aroma of ripe blueberries, rosé wine, some vanilla-scenting oak, cooked plum, black cherry, brambleberry wine, rosehip tea, almond, restrained farmland touch in the end after the sediment was added. Tart onset but in a mellowish, rounded way, yet intensely fruity from the start, with a very ‘deep’ and noble blue ‘grapeyness’ – which nonetheless remains streamlined, ‘bright’ and focused, with side notes of juicy black cherry and ripe blackberry, indeed reminiscent of the dark, deep, sweet, luscious and almost port-like character of Grenache Noir, but integrated elegantly in a lambic context. Medium carbonation, supple and relatively ‘light’, notably elegant body, light bready core soaked in big dark grape juiciness dominating the finish, where soft grape skin tannins and hints of lemony funk and farmland from the lambic importantly play in the background. That typical Grenache sweetness, richness and ‘dark juiciness’ is the key aspect here and made somewhat subordinate to the lambic itself, albeit in an extremely gracious, streamlined, smooth way. No doubt these bottles will develop a more outspoken and funky lambic character in the coming years as the fruit fades and the wild yeast agents become more prominent, but in this younger form, this feels like more like Grenache wine diluted with a splash of young lambic than lambic with Grenache grapes in it – which in itself is obviously not an issue for me. Divine indeed.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2020 750 ml bottle to stemmed Cantillon glass, shared next to a stemless glass of Divin Poison, in celebration of the birth of our son. Pours a lovely semi-transparent raspberry-like red with light head that slowly but steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of an awesome combo of oak, funk, and a touch of citrus alongside well-balanced vinous notes from the grapes. Tastes like it smells, but not quite as robust. Still tasty though. Mouthfeel is medium-light to medium-bodied and mildly but pleasantly tart. Young, but delicious. This one should age gracefully (and the wine pairing is an elegant touch).

fkoolen (3514) - Eindhoven, NETHERLANDS - AUG 1, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2020 75cl bottle in basket @ Cantillon. Pours a nicely red color, cloudy, with a slim very lightly pinkish head. Nose is nicely fruity with trademark Cantillon cherries and berries, quite some funk. Taste has this fruitiness too, medium acidity and tart, lightly dry oaky; in the finish the red wine comes through really nice. Good body, medium carbonation.
