ctipping (3902) - Florida, USA - JAN 6, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2019 750 mL bottle. Originally reviewed 9/20/2014. Orange body. A bit of haze. Medium collar. Aroma is very woody. Citrusy. A little herbal. Dry grass. Tastes citrusy sour. Lemon. Grassy and woody. Lots of oak. Very much like Classic Gueuze, maybe a shade less malty. Crisp. Well carbonated. Excellent. Very similar to Classic Gueuze, but that's not a bad thing.

Pours pale yellow with no head. Aroma has ripe stone fruits, musky, old cellar, barnyard, citrus. Taste is more fresh than the aroma, fruity, citrus, unfortunately a bit oxidized.

375mL bottle drunk 8/13/16.
High clarity in this sunset-orange-golden body. Small, white head shows moderate retention.
Marmalade and tea-like brett characteristics are rich, yet soft. Don’t actually get any wine, but it couldn’t matter less, as this is just a knockout even without the wine. Perfectly developed brett notes add fruitiness, soft funk, mineral, light band aid and citrus fruit rind, as wood tannins mix to add spicy and earthy notes that, just like in Crianza, are matched perfectly against the brett. Just a touch of lactic acid lingering, adding intensity and "sourness", with no alcohol or flaw.
Perfect lactic and brett interplay balances the juiciness of citrus, with rind-like sourness/tartness. Soft at first, yet developing some biting acidity as it breathes and gathers on the palate. Tons of funk, light honey and even some minerality and minor wine-like notes. Just fantastically complex and drinkable with a dry, but soft body and texture and exquisitely tight carbonation. Kind of would be interested to get more wine expression, but on the other hand, I wouldn’t roll the dice to risk upsetting this near perfect balance of flavor. Incredible.

Bottle. Golden pour with a touch of light head. Wine, wine and more wine, oak, funk and tart aromas. Flavors are smooth, tart, oak, wine tones. Really easy to drink, without a lack of sour Flavors.

Bottle - pours yellow gold white head - nose and taste of vinous funk, oak, lemon and horsey notes - medium body

GrumpyOldTroll (60) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 19, 2015
This has aged nicely from the days when it was a young, developing beer to today where it has grown into a fully mature, grandfatherly type of gueuze. The horse blanket has come forth and the results are good.

75cl bottle. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, rather fast fading white head. NOSE: barnyard, fruity, some oak, quite sour. TASTE: some funk left, oak, quite sour, don’t get too much wine in it though... Nice one!
