COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2021 Tap @Kufle i Kapsle in Warsaw-Poland. Yes, that’s the closest color to the skin of a red onion, hazy, rosee foam lowering quick. Nose: raspberry candy, balsamic, peppermint, thyme, a bit acetic. Mouth: sparkling, red wild fruit, lemony, some hints of lactose-yogurt.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2021 Taken as a treat to celebrate the Habs victory over the Golden Knights on St-Jean Baptiste day. Likely the best lambic raspberry I had so far. I’ll have to revisit the one from 3 Fonteinen soon, since the LCBO got it Recently for Father’s Day. 😉

ozzatoadisback (452) - ITALY - MAY 4, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2021 Pours a medium, luminous red, with half a finger of pinkish head that recedes quite quickly, but still leaves a bit of lacing. Medium intensity in the aroma: a soft doughish base, strong raspberry notes, lemon/citric notes, rustic/funky notes at minimum (cardboard?). Taste has a light sweet base, soon overcomed by rather strong (even per style) sourness. Sourness is slightly lactic, mainly citric. Finish is quite dry for the style, with a clean fruity note (half raspberry, half lemon). Taste notes of raspberry, lemon, light doughish base, only slight funky hints. Medium bodied with quite light carbonation, a rather full mouthfeel for a 5% abv beer. This was consumed fresh as suggedted by the brewery (bottled december 2020). The fruity notes were surely bright and intense, but not too deep, and there was not much lambic complexity to speak of. Still, an enjoyable drink.

nilaobai (16) - - APR 12, 2021
UPDATED: APR 12, 2021 Kangtilon's second base, the raspberry fruit lanbik. Nose, low stimulation compared to a lot of acid, pleasant overall, raspberry fruit aroma, combined with some mildew and stable notes, low cardboard, with some sweetness in the nose. Appearance, deep pink wine body, slightly cloudy, medium body, foam is not much but not long, a little cloudy; This bottle is really very coquettish, the king is really domineering. Taste: well controlled acidity in the mouth, not sharp, fruit flavor will be more obvious in the middle part, slightly sweetened, the overall degree of fusion is good, a little astringent in the mouth, and the sense of wild bacteria is relatively restrained. The whole thing is milder than the previous drink, but not much stunning.
