Bottle (7.8% ABV). Pours copper with thin, light beige head that dissipates quickly. Bread crust, brown sugar, and caramel aroma. Rich maltiness with caramel and brown sugar notes along with some peanut notes. Medium-full body. Medium-length finish with a touch of alcohol and some pleasant bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2019 Bottle thanks to Drake! Wow, I haven't rated anything from this brewery since 2004. I remember picking up that mix pack almost like it was yesterday. Pours murky amber brown with a soft off-white to beige head. Lightly smoked malt, brown leaf, caramel malt, dark fruit nose. Flavor is very sweet caramel, brown leaf, cocoa. Sticky, a bit strong, but totally drinkable, just going at it slowly.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2019 My first sample from Capital. I know that they can do better than this. Way sweeter than what I expected for this style. Almost like a Strong Ale or Imperial Marzen. Aroma of sourish/tart fruit and caramel malt. The feel is smooth, which helps with the drinkability, and there is some decent flavor here...though per $, I think I would go with a Spaten Optimator over this. Looking forward to sampling more from this brewer, as they recently started making their way to FL.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2019 2nd favorite of 6 in a legit DB tasting. Pours a lighter amber brown with tan head. Sweeter, with some candi-sugar-esque notes, dark fruit and caramel and just a hint of roast. Smooth.

Great Taste 2017. In the real ale tent. Low carbonation. Smooth palate, very sweet and a lot of sugar, some earthy character. I like this on cask.
Earlier Rating: 10/21/2004 Total Score: 3.5
Amber. Aroma of malt that so many bocks have. Flavor is malt and sugar. Very sweet. Some caramel. Alcohol is not found in the taste.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2017 For a Doppelbock I find it has too light a body although the spicy taste gives it a nice balance. Sweet pumpkin undertones. On tap at 8th Street Ale Haus, Sheboygan, WI.

12floz bottle, no date, 7.8% ABV, ~ $3 as a single, mug glass. Hazy pumpkin orange with aroma kinda like candy corn. This is a full on fall seasonal! Thick, syrupy beer. Very cloying and very low in bitterness.I've had this once before about a decade ago, and though it was really good. It is that memory that is holding me back from giving a lower score due to the highly sugary butter taste. I know doppelbocks can be malt bombs, and this one is bit much for my present senses.

Bottle (12oz). Clear dark caramel color with thin tan head the quickly disappeared. Light carbonation. Very malty with light roasted caramel and light warming. Easy drinking.
