Finhead (2278) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - DEC 18, 2021UPDATED: DEC 18, 2021 Slightly hazy, copper with a small, white head. The aroma has mild bread notes that match the malty flavor.
Carlisle (1406) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 31, 2019Can. Pours copper. Bread malt aroma. Bready malt with fruit and hop spice. Medium-light body.
Aggiebob (3426) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - OCT 26, 2018UPDATED: NOV 10, 2018 Bottle. It pours an orange gold color with a white head. The aroma is malty with a note of caramel and some fruity esters. The taste is slightly sweet. An interesting take on the Marzen.
TAR (2821) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - OCT 9, 2018Bottle. No freshness date. Hazed golden amber. Puffy fringe of white bubbles. Unclean aromas of tomato, caramel, corn flakes, Red Delicious apple and DMS. Hint of brown sugar, ammonia and fusel alcohol. Foamy carbonic residue hinders the mouthfeel. Dull and lifeless right out of the gate, with strong alcohol combined with chemical notes which abound alongside decaying Red Delicious apple notes. DMS is strong enough to distort the flavor clarity, and the poorly defined malt plagues things by contributing little more than soggy bran flakes and generic caramel notes. Apple juice contributes to the dead and curiously flabby body. Very sugary, profoundly limp and lacking crispness. Tinned tomato notes exacerbate the unapologetic DMS in the wet and sterile finish. Yikes. After 17 years since trying this, I'm shocked to find such a severely flawed and faceless brew, which sadly is pretty typical of the lackluster quality out of this brewery anymore. The aroma, alone, makes the stomach churn with all the chemical odors, and flavorwise it’s hardly any different. Just sloppy and dirty all around. Are these guys even trying?
StoutBeerReviews (482) - Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 22, 2017Tasty stuff, smooth hearty malty sweet. Toasted bready grains. Solid no complaints
randy1969 (213) - Marengo, Illinois, USA - NOV 13, 2017Rich aroma of caramel, toasted malt and spices. Golden, amber color, slightly hazy, persistent slightly off white cap head.
The flavor is sweet and smooth with the caramel and toasted malt with light bitterness. Light-bodied with some heft from the carbonation
BeerInHeaven (576) - Brillion, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 9, 2017pours a very pleasant copper amber with a medium white head. Rich caramel malt aroma. Awesome taste! Not overly sweet or syrupy. And it leaves rapidly but with a great perfectly bittersweet linger. My new favorite Oktoberfest!
MNAle (640) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 8, 2017Strong, spicy sweet bread aroma. Clear to slightly hazy amber, moderately carbonated, tall, thick, creamy off-white head. Smooth and creamy feel. Spice and bread in the initial taste, caramel that is slightly sweet. Moderately bitter in the middle and finish. Finish is a bit sticky. A very nicely done American Märzen.
dekester1 (375) - Town of Maple Creek, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 22, 2016Poured and orangey/amber color with a decent head that faded to lacing. A slightly sweet aroma with hints of fruity hops and strong malt. Taste is very malty with a bready flavor and mild hop finish. Palate was good. Overall, one of the stronger marzens I have tasted.
Slick75 (30) - - SEP 20, 2016This is my favorite American Oktoberfest beer. It has a rich caramel flavor and is very affordable.
