Bottle in Seattle. Soapy, lingering foam. Dark mahogany brown. Butterscotch nose, a bit pungent. Smooth body, wet blanket, butterscotch flavors, fair amount of bitterness. Dark fruit skin, some cherry juice, a bit of bitter papery finish. Fair.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2018 Bottle picked up at Total Wine, which is my "out of season, but still good, local craft" superstore. Not the first, and certainly won’t be the last. A darker amber pour with a rocky foam head. Mild aroma of caramel malt, oak, and the slightest hinted hop impression. Flavor is a slightly rich, dusty caramel malt, with another wood note. A solid winter ale I’m sure, but this is doing just fine in the sun watching baseball. Quite the tasty session strong ale here. This would be a fine addition to the year round lineup. UPDATE:. Rerate month 2018. Looks like it's starting to creep towards regular lineup status, considering I'm drinking it at the brewery in June. A solid beer here. Still really enjoy it.

pours from bottle a dark auburn with barely noticeable head. aromatics are of spices, winter, spruce, alcohol, and leather. the flavors follow the same path with the addition of dark fruits, particularly plums and prunes. i wish they’d have a rating for beer name, because slippery slope’s one of the better winter ones i’ve seen.

12oz bottle poured into goblet glass Augustign goblet. Clear and dark ruby color. Lacing covers the surface of the beer. This is an Americanized English Strong Ale or maybe a session American Strong Ale. Aroma is unsugary slightly spoiled fruit maltiness. Its almost a bit barleywine-like. There is a bit of toasted malt. Nothing overpowering but strong. Flavor is sweet dark fruits at first and it fades quickly to an earthy malt with a faint generic hop end. Lightly sweet but unsugary, low hop character, well restrained but strong dark fruit presence. Its like a mini barleywine. Cascade Lakes is 2 for 2 with me, I’m always not expecting much but am very pleasantly surprised.

It poured a bright copper color with a beige head. The aroma was of bread, malts, hops and maybe a hint of cocoa. The taste was bready, a little chocolate, some more malts and hops. Nice. Thanks Hayduke!
