COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Mess is our new hoppy farmhouse ale brewed in collaboration with Rockslide Brewery in Grand Junction. Zorba, their head brewer, is a master of hoppy ales so he came up with an amazing hoppy ale which we took and fermented with our farmhouse culture. After months in oak, we dry hopped it with Centennial, Citra and Simcoe. It’s called Hop Mess because neither of us have made anything with so many hops before. We lost a lot of beer due to the massive dry hopping at 2 pounds per barrel. Truly a hop mess.

Bottle at the brewery, this one was fantastic, almost an IPA. Tons of hop flavors, strong citrus. Aroma fills the room with citrus. The base is a lightly tart, charming saison. Crushed it here.

750 mL bottle. Hazy orange. Smells of yeast, acidity, and orange hops. Tastes of oak throughout. Bright citrus. Grain. A little bit of doughy malt. Citrus again behind the malt with a little bit of sour citrus tartness. Medium body with soft carbonation. Excellent, as always.

Slightly hazy bright golden under a thick white head. Rich musty bretty nose with bright bread malts and hay and grassy leafy hops and more bright Belgian funk. Brisk Belgian golden malty flavor with lots of resiny piney and fresh leafy dry hoppiness, underlying Belgian bretty funk and a farmhouse like finish. Dry and slightly peppery at the end with a brisk resiny hop tone. Super delightful.

750 mL bottle shared by Gus. The pour is a nice dark golden yellow orange with a thinner ring of white head and a couple spots of good lace. The aroma is a hoppy mess ha. There is a good fruitiness. Tropical fruits and a spicy saison behind it. Not great, but a little messy. The flacoenis much of the same. The nice tropical fruitiness up front rolls into a decent spicy saison and then finishes off a little stranger. It’s interesting. The mouth feel is medium to light bodied with a brighter carbonation and a lingeringly fruity hop on the back. It’s pretty interesting, that’s for sure.

Bottle shared by adnielsen in our fart share room at RBWG. Thanks again, @@ron! Pours a hazy gold with a small white ring for a head. Notes of pear, lemon, lychee, grass, oak, vanilla, bretty funk, straw, mild spice, and some citrus zest. Light-medium bodied, with a funky, dry, lightly tart mouthfeel. Very nice and pleasant.
