UPDATED: JAN 10, 2022 16 oz. can. Pours black, with a small, foamy, tan head. The nose is butter toffee, light peat, roasted chesnuts, pine sap. Sweet and malty, with a good, roasty bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with a syrupy, chewy palate. Pretty bold and tasty.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2021 Can at home. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy beige head, long retention. Medium-high roast and chocolate malt, coffee notes, a clean lager character, light spicy hops, medium bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2021 10 ounce at the brewery - it's been a minute since I've had a schwarzbier this good - almost forgot what they were like - super dry, but still richly malty - crisp but still full and round - nicely balanced bitterness and roast - touches of smoke around the edges - damn is Cerebral ain't hitting their stride these days.

Ernest (9030) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 12, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 12, 2021 Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, coffee, unsweetened chocolate), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a note of minerals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Another solid, clean lager from Cerebral...three for three so far in that regard. Minerally and roasty and bitter, just the way it should be. Kinda watery but otherwise a very nice quaffer. Whoever's making their lagers is doing very promising work. I don't really care about the foeder marketing (Americans are infatuated with putting any and all beer styles into oak barrels for some reason), but it sure seems like they're making them old world-styled and that's all that matters to me!

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2019 On tap at the brewery. Black appearance with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, mild coffee, light wheat and a hint of caramel. Similar flavor, adding a pleasant bittersweet balance with a light to medium body and a clean/smooth finish. Well done.

onceblind (17156) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 21, 2019
UPDATED: NOV 21, 2019 Black hue with a thin sticky light beige head. Light nose that has a little roast and black malt and a slight earthiness. Cool mellow Lagery crisp flavor featuring a little cocoa and earthy roast malt. Lingering cocoa flavor that’s super gently sweet and a little roasty.
