Ernest (9030) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 2, 2022UPDATED: JAN 2, 2022 Can. Head is initially average sized, fizzy/bubbly, light brown, mostly/fully diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate, coffee), lightly hoppy (grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
The aroma is ok, but it's sourish and watery and fizzy in the mouth, so not much fun to drink. Meh.
notalush (6725) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 2, 2021UPDATED: DEC 2, 2021 10 ounce at the brewery - dark brown with a tan lace - nose of roast and earthy hops - a lot of fresh green hoppiness in the flavor that works surprisingly well with the chocolate and roastiness of the malt character - I quite like it.
PhillyCraft (11988) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 19, 2021UPDATED: JUL 19, 2021 At the brewery, reddish black color with average head. Haven’t had a black ipa in a minute. Coffee, pine, rich malts, and herbal hops.
ajnepple (12995) - Lakewood, CO, Colorado, USA - JUL 7, 2021UPDATED: JUL 7, 2021 Brown/black appearance with a light tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt, cocoa, mild pine and light citrus zest. Similar taste, adding some roasty bitterness and light sweetness. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Nice.
