UPDATED: DEC 1, 2020 Bottle. Pours opaque black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is licorice, rum, cocoa. Flavor is medium plus sweet, light plus bitter, really nice flavor palate, but oddly muted. Full body, soft mouthfeel. Good, not popping.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2018 3/25/18. 750mL bottle from Catador Club. Black pour with a nice tan head that fades to a ring but sticks, mild lacing. Rich aroma, dark fruits, touches of coffee, rum. Sweet entry, caramel and sticky toffee, nuts, biscuit, coffee, rum. Tasty.

750ml bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color and capped by a small tan colored head of foam that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows loads of dark fruits with plums, raisins, and dates most noticeable and a hint of licorice over a toasted caramel malt base with some sweetness from the rum and oak and a touch of roast. The flavor follows suit with ample notes of dark fruits and light licorice to go with the toasted caramel that melds into a rum soaked oak sweetness on back end with just a touch of roasty bitterness on the backend. Medium bodied and fairly smooth with soft carbonation that leads to a rum soaked dark fruit and toasted caramel finish with just a hint of licorice. The alcohol is very well hidden as well. Interesting stuff and not heavy on the licorice like I was expecting but not really my style. Still it’s very well executed with perfect use on the rum barrel.

Bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of dark dried fruits, toffee, slight barrel, toffee. Sweet, choko, toffee, fruits, light hoppy. smooth and velvet good. stuff.

Bottle @ Orla Holding The Hood Down pt 2, Sanderslum 2018. Pours Black with a small beige head. Roast, cinnamon, licorice, salty. Smooth and dry. Medium bodied.

Bottle at Orla. Aroma of roasted malt, choco, liqourice, rum and wood. Complex but balanced. Heavy sweet with lingering rum notes. Full and creamy. Good.

750mL bottle pours with a derp dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts wrapped around reduced sugars like molasses and then thin soft barrel, booze and rum notes off in the background. The taste delivers smooth molasses nuanced dark roasted malts creating a bit of a Zhukov Stout sensation. To midway it picks up thin soft rum and blunted oaky barrel notes. There's very little sense of the ABV. Nice sipper

Typically rich Catty beer. The licorice and rum are apparent and flavoriaful. Overall a spicey, sweet imperial. Pretty tasty overall.
