after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAY 23, 2017Draft at SB. Man, this one is truly lovely. Pours a cloudy bright medium yellow gold with a dense and creamy whitish head that sticks around for quite a while. Big tangy nose, showing orange, papaya, floral notes, some herbal counterpoint, and candied lemon zest. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Lightly sweetened cereal under a big burst of oranges, papaya, lemon, and floral notes. Long creamy, slightly sweet finish. When it leaves the last few drops in the bottom of the glass, they have an interesting heft to them--like there’s something in suspension in the beer that settles while you drink it. You can’t feel it or taste it, but the last few drops seem to move slowly. Definitely an outlier along the borders between at least a couple styles, but beautifully harmonious and flawlessly executed.
Capa (4059) - JAPAN - MAY 14, 2017Hazy yellow with a white head. Full of fruity hops and a bit of pepper. Citrus and hoppy bitterness. Super nice saison that leans hoppy.
andrewje41 (6568) - Monroe, Washington, USA - MAY 7, 2017Draft pour pint at Chucks, Central District. Some Cloudburst beer names have been slightly forgotten for me over the last year and a half, but I think this one will be remembered. Hazy golden yellow pour. Huge hop constant on the aroma. Heavier hop nose than any other saison farmhouse that I can recall. Some yogurt like funk, but light. Super saison, but it doesn’t seem too strong. Flavor is pleasant. Some lemon, and other citrus flavor constant and linger. Lemon, juicy finish. Fun saison. Great name. Good beer.
luttonm (7592) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 7, 2017Chuck’s CD, Seattle. Lingering soft ring, hazy light grassy body. Grassy sweet nose, a bit of green hop. Banana and pepper notes. Smooth, moderately sweet. Plenty of esters but wiped by fresh green and inviting hops. Good grassy drying element. Lactic creamy body is typical of Cloudburst saisons, which disappoints me every time. Grassy hops are hugely redeeming though. Best of the bunch from them in my book. Tasty.
