UPDATED: MAY 14, 2021 This is a backlog rating from 2008 from a bottle, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are pale lager malts, grainy, grassy, floral, citrus, ok.

Pours a deep golden yellow. Nice aromas of hops/citrus/peppery. Nice hoppy flavor, spicy/pepper, alcohol shows up in the back end.

"Almost a hybrid imperial pilsner/ipa in taste and aroma. not bad at all. leaves a long lasting grassy and spicy hop bitterness and while you can tell it’s a lager, it’s all about the hops here. "

Bottle. Orange amber pour, nice tall white head that lasts and leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is bread, some pine and floral hops. Nice hoppy taste with a good bitterness.

This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a nice looking clear bronzed amber color with a super nice looking three finger sustaining head that does end up dissipating at a decently slow rate. There is some light foamy lacing gracing the sides of the glass. The smell has a nice authentic toasted caramel maltiness overtop of some super light bittering hops. The taste was mainly sweet through the malts. I really didn’t get any sweetness from the hops. There’s a slight dry malty sweet finish. Don’t ask about the aftertaste, there isn’t any. On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium in body with a fairly decent sessionable aspect rolling over my tongue. The carbonation is pretty light. Overall, this is a decent Double/Imperial Pilsener. I’d seek others before this one as its not bad, its just not great.

Good head retention from the white foam. Medium orange in color.This beer is an anomaly. Grainy malt textures are tripped up by mixed bitterness. Mainly citrus but also typical pine and cattiness from the American hops.

August 19th, 2012 - Blind tastings, or tasting without reference to the brewing process can be a helpful exercise to develop one’s palate. But I don’t think I would have ever guessed (without Ratebeer’s assistance) that this is an IPA brewed with lager yeast...which I suspect makes this an India Pale Lager. At any rate, it’s a solid brew, with a lot of newish, refreshing flavors in a little bottle. The beer is a bit cloudier than I would have expected, with meandering particulates that I could almost make out with the naked eye, all drifting in a thick, glazed carrot colored broth. Like the thickness of the beer, the nose is crowded with good smells: apricot, mandarin orange, snap dragons and other flowers, making a wonderful Spring style bouquet. In contrast, the flavor is spicy, featuring lots of orange, gin and juniper, though it never becomes so dry that the drinker craves a spoonful of sugar or jam. Nor does the booziness become a problem. Everything is in a healthy balance, which comes as a little bit of a surprise, considering the discordance between the yeast and the style. Still, this is an easy beer to swallow, and definitely deserves an encore.

Poured large bottle into a imperial pint glass. The bottle says it’s a "IPA style brewed withe Lager Yeast. I think this a phenomenal IPA. Great color, frothy head all the way to bottom of the glass. Forget silly stuff like hints of pine and grass, this brew has a solid hops flavor though and though. Sturdy is the word. BRAVO!

Big bottle from Fairway Market. Diaphanous blonde with a loose-heaped foam lacing ornately. Orange rind, honey, shrub, Lipsyl, bath foam, dried apricot and pine in a distinctly European- accented nose. Soft marmalade and pine hop notes; honey on white toast and crackers; apricot flavours. Hints of dried herbs and peach. Reminds me of very nice beer of Rodos, aromatised with rosemary. Rounded and mellow with generous bitterness in the finish.
