COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & keg; Unfiltered. Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast. "With its fruity character, and robust flavour, Coopers Pale Ale is perfect for every occasion. Naturally fermented in the 'Burton-on-Trent' style, a secondary fermentation creates the trademark sediment that gives 'Pale' its fine cloudy appearance. This cloudy residue can be stirred through the beer by tipping or rolling the bottle before drinking."

northoftheriver (7) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JAN 3, 2022 does not count
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2022 375 mL bottle, rolled, then poured into cooled Weizen-style glass. Appearance: Slightly hazy, golden honey colour. Visible fine sediment floating due to bottle fermentation. Looks good. Coarse, thin head that dissipated in <2 minutes. Aroma: Light grassy-floral-earthy aroma. Nothing overly prominent, but quite distinct nonetheless. Mouthfeel: Moderate mouthfeel. Not too thin. Quite sparkly and carbonated. Relatively clean and crisp. Refreshing. At times can feel a little like flavoured soda water. Flavour: Not complex. Initial note of banana, which is especially pronounced when drinking this after a different beer. Quite hoppy and bitter. Light on the malt, not sweet. No strong citrus notes. Prominent residual bitterness on tongue that resolves to a subtle lemon flavour. Bitterness is the overwhelming flavour profile. A little one-dimensional because of this. Overall: For context, Coopers Pale Ale is what you would consider to be a 'baseline' beer in Australia. It's not a craft beer. Cheap and widely available in pubs and bottle shops everywhere. We recently did a roadtrip across outback Queensland and every pub from Longreach to Mount Isa had Coopers Pale on tap (thankfully!). Despite what may sound like an average review, I have a love for Coopers Pale. It was my first pale ale many moons ago, it was my go-to beer at any and every Melbourne pub before craft became a big thing, and to this day I always have some in my fridge. As a baseline-type beer it leaves the competition for dead. It was the original pale ale in Australia. As a young guy when all your mates were drinking awful sweet cheap lagers like VB, the 'discerning' beer drinkers would be drinking pints of Coopers Pale. It's not complex. It doesn't have bearded, tattooed gents micro-brewing it in an abandoned warehouse down some obscure Melbourne alleyway. It doesn't come with a story of the 18 different hops that went into brewing it. What it is is a great pale ale that is very drinkable, available everywhere, and has a good family-owned story behind it. Nothing more to say.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2021 Tap. Clear light golden color. Hoppy and metallic aroma. Refreshing high carbonation. Strong bitterness in the aftertaste but rather crisp finish. But overall, warterly beer.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2021 Barwa buro-pomarańczowa, błotniście zmętnione, piana niska, szybko opada. W aromacie nuty ziemiste, słód, karmel, biszkopt. W smaku podobnie, przypomina to Kellera, w tle może trochę ziół. Ciało średnie, goryczka niska, wysycenie wysokie. Takie sobie.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2021 This beer has a solid golden hue. It's bottle fermented, similar to the trappist ales that I love so much so you'll have a nice brown sediment. Head is decent, but collapses pretty quickly. The beer has a yeasty overtone, with bready and grassy notes. The taste remains primarily of yeast and bitter hops, with a medium body throughout. In summary, this is a beer's beer. Definitely nothing that knocks your socks off, but has substance to be enjoyable. I also really enjoyed how clean the beer felt afterwards, which is likely a testament to the quality ingredients.
