snowcrash000 (1790) - Cologne, GERMANY - SEP 5, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2021 Pours a cloudy, deep ruby red coloration with a huge, frothy head that disappears immediately. Smells of light wheaty malt and a fresh, tart raspberry aroma, with hints of balsamic vinegar and musty oak as well. Taste is a good balance of light wheaty malt and and quite vibrant and expressive tart raspberries and cherries, which add to the already considerate acidity here, with some rather subtle, earthy funk and more pronounced musty oak and tannins, as well as just a hint of balsamic vinegar. Finishes with a strong acidity and some raspberry, oak and vinegar lingering in the aftertaste. Effervescent mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation. Quite a fruity lambic, with the raspberries and hints of cherry really standing out rather brightly here, as well as a strong, mouth-puckering acidity that is just a little too much for my personal taste, actually. At the same time, the funk could be more pronounced, seemingly struggling to overcome that strong acidity here, although there are some rather pronounced wooden, musty oak notes to this add a bit more depth and complexity along with some tannins and balsamic vinegar. Overall, this makes for a very fruity lambic with quite a strong acidity and musty oak notes, that is a bit light on the funk and way too sour and vinegary for my personal taste.

davidezdonz (1514) - Hong Kong, HONG KONG - JUL 4, 2021
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2021 A 750ml corked and caged bottle, 2017 vintage, with a best before date of July 2040. Poured into a De Cam stemmed glass. It was a lightly hazy amber orange colour with a one finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly but left some nice lacing. Aromas tart, jammy, raspberry, oak, lemon zest, with slight notes of funk. Tastes lightly sour, tart, jammy, raspberry, rhubarb, lemon zest, oak, light funk. Medium to light bodied with moderate to high carbonation. Overall the aroma was good with nice fruity raspberry, but taste while still good, the amount of fruit didn’t quite match the aroma. Carbonation was also on the borderline too high for my palate, and sometimes a bit uncomfortable.
