UPDATED: SEP 16, 2021 Rubinowo-miedziane, klarowne, z obfitą, grubą, sycząca pianą. W zapachu figi, karmel, kandyzowane owoce, rum i stary chmiel. W smaku dość słodkie, głównie rodzynki w rumie, porto, melasa, lekko kwaskowe figi, głóg. Niska do średniej, ziołowa goryczka, wysokie, grube co2, przez co wydaje się dość rzadkie.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2021 A difficult acquisition but a happy one. I'm pleased to have a 750 ml bottle of Straffe Hendrik Heritage 2016 to try since the base quadrupel from De Halve Maan is highly regarded by me. Corked and caged, those come off with some difficulty to release a scent of bright ripe fruit and a hint of alcohol. Out of the cabinet I take down my Straffe Hendrik glass, of course, that was purchased in Bruges a couple of years ago. The delivery is a strongly dark mahogany liquid followed by a thin rim of tan foam. I note a strong carbonation as it sits for a moment. Finally I lift the glass to taste an assault of dark raisins, dates, cane syrup, a bit of oak, some caramel cake and pecans. Epic, it is truly fine. Now to sit back, listen to some Eric Clapton and enjoy the evening.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2021 Kolor ciemno brązowy, rubinowy, klarowny. Piana barwy ecru, średnio wysoka, trwała. Topnieje tworząc delikatny, spieniony kożuszek. Aromat słodki, choć czasem czuć nuty (kwaśne) winne i rumowe. Idealnie ukryty alkohol. Wysycenie wysokie, przeszkadza. Ciało wysokie. Tekstura gładka, miękka.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2021 75 cl. bottle bought at Coriasso's, served at home in a Straffe Hendrik glass. Dark brown colour, medium beige head with short retention, tiny lacking. Aroma of rum, chocolate, raisins, oak, some caramel, prunes. Medium to full body, sticky texture, normal carbonation. Sweet finish. Taste of rum, chocolate, raisins, a bit of caramel, pepper. Great.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2021 750ml bottle from Brewers Haven. Birthday gift. Dark brown pour, persistent silky beige head. Aroma features the sugary rum notes on the Belgian strong, raisins, dates. My wife smelled bacon when I popped it open. Taste is sweet, the rum adding a bit of flavor, complimenting the prune/raisin/date flavors and also toning down the Belgian yeast a bit. Very light alcohol presence throughout.

Sterk alcoholisch.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2020 Copenhagen 2/6 2018. 75 cl bottle from Den Belgiske Ølbutik in Vanløse. The usual Grumpy Half Moon on the label. A numbered bottle. A little booklet presenting the Brewery and the beer hanging around the neck of the bottle. Pours clear dark amber with big, bubbly, off-white head. Settles as thin patch of foam covering half the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is sweet and sour. Sugary sweetness with a touch of humid old cellar. The Rum peeking in. Sharper notes of alcohol. Strong, sweet and warm. Light carbonation. Medium thick soft texture. Flavor is heavy sweet. Followed by spicy, sharp booziness. Aftertaste is sweet, woody, rich and not without an alcoholic burn. A very pleasant stay in the big Barrel of Rum.

Maris (2828) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - JAN 12, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2020 From a 750ml bottle (bottle no. 04008, shared with Butz). Pours a super dark amber with a medium to biggish head. The nose is boozy, rummy, plummy. In the mouth it's complex and dessert like - cherries, berries, plums, and a little toffeee, with mild rum in the background. The mouthfeel is surupy, but strangely, it's a touch over-carbed. All up, a very enjoyable sipper, let down a touch by the carbonation
