COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gutch is an American twist on the mild English Ale. Deep red amber in color with notes of hazelnut, bittersweet chocolate and toffee; Gutch, is a blend of foreign and domestic hops that is meant to pull emphasis to the malt tones and softly transition with a spicy, citrus finish.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2018 Can. Toasted malt aroma with notes of caramel and toffee malt as well as clove and spicy hop flavors. Pours clear copper colored with a thin tan head that has excellent retention and lacing. Starts with caramel and toffee malt flavors. Finishes dry and smooth with toasted malt, clove and spicy hop flavors. Pretty nice mild ale.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2018 Aroma: Can - Yeast, toffee low toasted aroma, as the initial aromas subside a touch of vanilla is also present. Malts also provide a sweetness to the aroma as well. There is a low hop aroma, it is earthy, slightly peppery. Other rates are a little smoke (cigarette smoke) but very low. Appearance: Crystal clear body, light caramel in color. The head thins but is retained and laces the glass. Bubble texture is a mixture of small and medium bubbles. Flavor: Initially smokey, like smoked meat. The are cloves in the forward flavors. The malts provide a mild sweetness, and a very low toffee flavor. The hops I believe are providing the clove flavor, and it is a bit strong but cuts the sweetness. Balance is more malty but fairly evenly balanced. Finish is sweet with low bitterness. Mouthfeel: medium body, with medium to low carbonation. Low alcohol warmth, not creamy, and Aloha stringency associated with the bittering Hops and cloves. Overall: a good English mile that's not too hoppy which is very representative of the English mild, but the cloves are a little bit strong and while it balances out the sweetness it maybe a little bit overpowering.

On tap. Pours a clear deep bronze color with a fair head. Aroma of malt, some nuts and hint of biscuit. Taste of roast malt, nuts, trace of dark chocolate and spice. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Moderate body and nice malty character in keeping with an English mild ale. Nice.

12floz can, no freshness present, paid about $1.50, and poured contents into a pint glass. It took two pours, since it was a gusher (annoying...). Upon settling the frothing beige head provides sticky lacing as the orange-brown body lowers. Sugary aroma is somewhat similar to Dr. Pepper. Drinks easily with a peanut-brittle flavor, palate is light-medium in body, but carbonation and astringency is high for a mild ale. I really like milds, and this is passable, but I will pass on getting it in the future.

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is a pretty good malt with some hints of roaster nuts and some biscuits. Flavor is more of a spicy and earthy malt with english hops. I also did get an odd plastic after the finish. This was a true to the style British ale with plenty of earthy malt but that odd plastic at the end kind of stays with you.

12 oz. can. Pours dark, clear bronze, with a medium, beige, bubbly head. The aroma is mild biscuit dough, cloves, pecans, and some very mellow, earthy hops. Nicely balanced sweet maltiness and easy bitterness. Light body, velvety, syrupy, and clean. This is a very easy, malty, delicious beer. Well balanced, creatively and judiciously hopped, and very interesting.

Nice beer, not exceptional but a nice malty flavor and a decent English style ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
