COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who knows what inspired the ancients to build Stonehenge--or what inspired us to build Hop Henge in its likeness. But build it we did, out of wrapped bales of whole-flower hops out on the brewery lawn. Like the rest of the Bond Street Series, Hop Henge highlights the creativity and curiousity of our brewers. Bolder than its English ancestors, with huge hops and a bitter finish, this IPA is no wallflower.

NOTE: This is the original version. In 2007 it was bumped up to an IIPA. See that entry <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/deschutes-hop-henge-imperial-ipa/68396/>here.

It pours orange and has a definitive cloudiness to it. The head is slightly off white and has good head retention. There are strong aromas of floral and citrus. There are other interesting notes of bread and a wee bit of tropical elements. There are strong citrus, floral, and stone fruit elements. The citrus elements almost tastes as if it was fresh squeeze. There are also grapefruit notes and bready notes in the finish. It has a moderate body on the full size with a strong bitter finish that is not harsh, but pleasant. Overall, a very intriguing combination of flavor elements with a top notch finish.
