COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Still our original IPA – still the King, Bask in the heady aromas and bold flavours of juicy, double dry-hopped perfection. Best enjoyed fresh – the way our brewer intended. Our flagship IPA has won the best beer on show at 2011, 2012 and 2014, 2019 Cape Town Festival of Beer, the 2014 Johannesburg Festival of Beer – and was the winner of the 2014 SAB Craft Brewer Championship. Enjoy our take on this iconic style

Kleg (2050) - The Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 18, 2021
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2021 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy gold color with an off white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Euro malt aroma. Euro malt flavor too with a light soapy finish. Something tastes off. Light hops notes and almost no bitterness. It's not bad, but definitely different than American beers. Hard to believe this is 56 IBU.

SVD (4589) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - AUG 19, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2021 Bottle at home, golden beer, small head. Aroma is citrus, lemon, light sweet, light pine, hops. Taste is the same, bittersweet, lemon, not bad.

fiery1 (4103) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 19, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2020 440ml bottle @ home on the deck. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium white head. Nose is oxidized, cardboard, bready malt, and maybe a trace of pine. Flavour is spicy carboard, bready malt, and a lingering pine. Medium to light bodied, surprisingly good carbonation, and a mild sweetness with a tangy pithy bitterness. It's and old IPA, and not as aged as I would expect... however not great.

mcberko (34280) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 19, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2020 Old 440mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a large white head. Aroma is oxidized, with bready malt and faded piney hops. Flavour has lots of cardboard, with faded piney hops, bready malt, and a touch of citrus. For a 3-year-old IPA, this is surprisingly drinkable. My rating reflects how I assume this would be fresh.

Holmen1 (11088) - Stavanger, NORWAY - MAR 1, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2020 Fra fat på Beerhouse on Long, Cape Town feb-20: klar gylden med fint skum som varer. Deilig citruskombo med mango og furunål. Juicy, competently banlanced and eminently refreshing, in fact one of the best I had during our trip to South Africa.

sylvainalexandre (52) - - FEB 24, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2020 Une IPA de très bonne facture, belle couleur dorée, amertume on ne peut plus maîtrisée et notes fruitées. Une belle découverte

3.6
the_beergery (924) - - JAN 29, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2020 330 ml bottle. Appearance is a slightly cloudy gold, topped with a finger of white froth with moderate retention. Aromas are hoppy, grapefruit predominantly with citrus fruit. Taste is grapefruit and citrus bittersweet, followed by a malty sweetness and ending with a piney, resin bitter, but relatively mild. Moderate carbonation, medium bodied.

3.3
NocturneBC (13) - Durban, SOUTH AFRICA - SEP 19, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 19, 2019 Not the same beer is used to be before the rebranding of DP. A clean and easy drinking IPA with a mild malty sweetness that balances the hop bite well and leads to a dry finish. Little to no yeast character present. The hop profile is lacking a special something that it used to have. A good beer but not the great beer it used to be
