UPDATED: SEP 15, 2020 Bottle. Caramel, brown sugar, nutty coffee, light resiny hops. Chewy with a balancing bitterness. Excellent.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2020 Cask at GBBF 2007, Earl’s Court on 08/08/2007. Really liked this; its big on the cereal and malt and also on the piney and grassy hops.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2019 Brown with a creamy, sticky head that lingers. Strong toffee & caramel aroma. Taste is intensely sweet with mild sour undertones. Medium body, mild carbonation, slightly watery texture. Closer to a scotch ale than a bIPA. Interesting but not very likeable.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2019 Just like the other Dogfish Head beers I have had this is one has a strong flavor. It tastes a lot like a dark beer but then it is an IPA. It is ok but I am not a huge fan.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2019 Der Typ 'Indian Brown Ale' ist schon einmal etwas neues. Es soll auf die Vielseitigkeit des Bieres hingewisen werden und dass von einem Brown Ale und IPA Aromen vorhanden sind. Es dominieren aber natürlich die malzigen Aromen und schaffen eine röstmalzige, karamelliges Basis, welche mit einzielnen Hopfenspitzen gewürzt ist. Ein interessantes, untypisches Bier, das mich aber nicht vollends überzeugen konnte.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2019 Pours a very dark red color. Two fingers mocha colored head. Okay retention, okay lacing.

Yum, smells like a stout. Dark malt, brown sugar. Cocoa, coffee.

Taste is stout. Coffee, cocoa, vanilla, roasty malts. A little more hop than a stout.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Thin. Watery.

Overall, I initially gave it a very high rating. But it’s less IPAand more stout. It’s a pretty good stout, but a bad IPA, but add the fact they call it a brown ale....I’ve given it a lower rating than it deserves. It’s worth a try, and I would buy it again to investigate further. It is quite good, but, it’s weird.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2018 Bottle. Single purchased at Super Saver. Pour was light brown with an off white head. Aroma was nutty, brown sugar, caramel malt, mild roasted coffee. Taste was mild sweet, malty, coffee, nut, chocolate, light pine.

Backlog, bottle in 12-13. Pours a clear brown red color with medium off white head. Smell is raisin bread, malt, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is a lot of the same but more fruity and sweet comparatively. Body is light to medium for style. Ok

Aroma of roast, sugar, booze. Big flavor of coffee, bitter dark chocolate malt, oats, and bread. Rich mouthfeel, lingering aftertaste, very delicious! Amazing palate. I see this one is categorized in a variety of ways, but of all beers I can compare it to, it seems most similar to Founders Porter, just a bit stronger.
