UPDATED: FEB 13, 2021 More wine/mead than beer. Light honey, grapes, not much else. Not too sweet, dry finish. Fine but not mind blowing.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2021 Bottle poured into an English pint. Golden hue with a bubbly white head. Aroma of champagne grapes, saffron, honey, faint yeast. Initial taste is champagne, light honey. Fades to grapes and yeast. Effervescent carbonation and a light body. An odd duck but it's nice for a change of pace!

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2020 Bottle - from 4 pack. Light golden color, very clear. Sweet, slightly spicy aroma. Really good. Tastes more like wine than beer. Like a mildly dry wine.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2020 Bottle from Brewers Haven. Clear, medium golden body with a small cap of foamy head. Grainy aroma, malty, reminiscent of some of the emmer or spelt beets in Germany. Taste starts out malty before turning over to some savory, herbal flavors, woody, juniper. I guess the ancient Sumerians had it pretty good...

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2019 Bottle from Public Wine. Cloudy gold with thin head. Herbal aroma with sage and cloves. Low carb. Honey comes through but without too much sugar, quite light mouthfeel. Better than I recalled. Love a good arch brew

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2019 Sample after Patrick McGovern talk in Easttown. Clear dark gold colored, medium body. Malt and honey aroma. Saffron bittered taste and acrid finish. No accounting for 700 B.C. tastes, but a real triumph of craft beer making.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2019 12oz bottle from Windsor Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Aromas of white wine, honey, raisins and malted grain. Pours beer ad standard honey golden with a thin cover of foam that leaves a nice lacing pattern on the glass, with a steady stream of rising bubbles. Crisp and slightly fruity on the entry. Passion fruit? With caramel and vanilla notes standing out in the middle and a moderately long honeyed and herbal finish, and you can feel the heat of that 9.0 ABV hit bottom. Thin bodied, a little watery honestly, light, sweet and mildly sticky. Interesting stuff, almost more wine than beer in my opinion, but definitely worth trying for the story if nothing else. To the king!
