12-oz. 15 years’ bottle age. Thanks, D! How long have I wanted to try this one? Damn. Really appreciate your putting this together. Pours a sludgy, slow-moving thick and opaque matte black. Minimal burnt tan head. Seriously looks like motor oil. Big sharp prune, vodka, raisin, vodka, and vodka nose. Thick sticky hot body, nearly flat. Bites. Sharp vodka right from the attack, along with plenty of prunes and raisins. Long hot bitey finish. Even with five big drinkers well into a session by the time we cracked this, we couldn’t finish 12 ounces of it.

From file last updated 2010. Bottle. Pours black with slight tan head. Aroma is complicated. Full bodied. Alcohol. Treacle. Complicated flavors suggesting old things.

Poured a medium brown with no head. 12 years old at this point. Aroma was of port, dark fruits, chocolate, light roast. Flavor was similar, much more like an old English barleywine, dark fruit and chocolate and still really hot.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2015 This beer ROCKS! Had this at the 2014 RB Pittsburgh Summer Gathering at Horny Devil’s place. Actaully it was after the equinox at the beginning of fall, but DILLIGAF. Big thanks to James & Michelle for hosting such a nice spread of quality beers and for this particular beer a GIANT thanks goes out to beerman6686. Was not expecting much but what I got was shades of J.W. Lees Harvest Ale (Lagavulin) or O’Hanlon’s Thomas Hardy’s Ale (2003 - 2008) - good stuff. Smelled like old, real old merlot. Big and black on the appearance with no head. Yes, a fine refined taste of well aged barley wine. A little hot on the back of the throat but that is of no consenquense. Reminds a bit of fine aged wine or sherry. Smooth and easy. Overall, a nice brew to start the tasting event off with. Yes, much better than expected. Yummy, actually.

Bottle shared thanks to beerman6686. Pours a dark cola color, slightly translucent. No head. Completely flat at this point. Aromas of fig raisin caramel alcohol. Taste is sweet with a ton of heat still. Reminiscent of a big barleywine. Oxidation. Decent for what it is.

Big time Booze but drinkable considering. Easily the biggest stout I’ve ever had. Felt like I drink a pint whiskey straight after this one. Gotta try it once.

Bottle. Black beer with no head. Malty, dried dark fruits, chocolate, leather, salty, vinous aroma. Malty, dried dark fruits, vinous, leather and chocolate flavour.

Incredible sweet and boozy. Thin looking pour, fast fading head. Roasty malts and alcohol on the palate. Good, but tastes like a schanpps.

Bottle at Paul’s tasting. Pours pitch black. Aroma is caramel, raisins, and alcohol. Taste is SWEET, easily the sweetest beer I’ve ever tasted, but somehow not terrible. Not a shred of bitterness, almost no roasted notes. Almost no carbonation. I would possibly sip on this again.
