jwil (120) - Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 23, 2021UPDATED: OCT 23, 2021 Dark amber coloration. Fairly opaque. A tan head that dissipated rapidly. Aroma is subtle, but I get notes of caramel and malt. Medium body with a fair amount of carbonation, but not too much. Relies heavily on the malt components. Hardly bitter, the hops take a lesser role in this brew. On the sweeter end of the scale, though I wouldn't call this cloying. Finish is smooth and not overly dry. A nice malty Marzen, though it doesn't have the utmost character I've found in this variety. Still quite drinkable and pleasant.
nearbeer (7699) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 18, 2021UPDATED: SEP 18, 2021 12 ounce, canned 07/27/21. Clear, orange-copper pour with an enduring film of tiny bubbles. Aroma has apple, caramel and a touch of toasted nut. Tastes the same with some coffee in the finish. Light-medium body has medium-plus carbonation. Slightly more dry and roasty than most in the style.
Dacrza (1557) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - SEP 18, 2021UPDATED: SEP 18, 2021 DATE: September 17, 2021... OCCASION: relaxing with Shan, 30 Rock, and an Oktoberfest I have yet to have... GLASSWARE: Orioles glass stein... pours a rambunctious, bubbly amber brown body whose head settles to an off-white ring... dark, roasted malts, thick toffee, caramel and tantalizing sugars elicit a sweet buzz... some apple and hard fruit, as well as nuttiness... its mouthfeel is smooth, medium-bodied, and patient in its finish... light impressions early, with a refreshing fullness late. that suggests some spiciness... the flavor profile is nutty, toffee-sweet and caramel-rich... a fest that is impactful, though slightly imbalanced.... overall, this is a bit more aggressive than its European predecessors, and it does engage in that way... it works in season for sure...
