COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Spica is the brightest star in the constellation Virgo. This Lager is brewed in the Un-filtered Kellerbier style. Pale malt is used exclusively to give the beer a nice malt body and light golden color. Sterling hops add a rich herbal character. The yeast left in the beer works with the hops to add a nice spicy flavor.

Bottle. Gold with medium white head. Grassy full aroma with straw. Well balanced flavour between hop and malt tending to the hop finish.

Pours a finger and half of head on a clear golden body. Aroma is black pepper, lemon and other spices. Taste is spicy, pine and grapefruit. Texture is crisp. Really nice.

22 oz bottle from Appalachian Vintner shared with the group in Hilton Head. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have lightly toasted bready malts, herbal, floral and earthy hops, straw, grass, the group liked it more than I did.

Bottle:   Straw in color, nice big white head, foamy, nice lacing.   Grassy nose, a little straw and hay.   Seems clean.   Bright straw on the tongue.   Soft grass/hay follow.   A little barnish.   Light to moderate sweetness.   Dear mother, dear father... what is this hell you have you put me through.   Okay, so listening to some awesome Metallica.   Moderate to full body.   Smooth, grassy finish.   Lots of straw and hay.   Has a little hop bite to it as well.   Not sure how wheaty this one is.   A bit of a hoppy grass like finish.   Hoppy Pils sure, but not sure about the wheaty part.   Certainly clean tho.

Draught at Portland Craft, Vancouver
Blond color, just hazy, with generous compact head. Decent malts, a bit grainy though, hay, but robust, and smooth; good bitterness level, the hops have a light herbaceous character.
Not bad.

Pours hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma has spice, melon, and clean pils malt with a lager roundness. It has a medium body with soft carbonation. The taste has source, wood, earth and grass. Nice.

The bottle I just bought just says "pilsner," not "hefepils" but this appears to be the same beer with a new label. Aroma is malty with notes of biscuit / white bread, and a soft clove / banana fruitiness. Flavor is lightly but noticeably hopped, with notes of sweet corn on the initial finish, and a nice bitterness on the lingering finish. Very palatable, nice and medium bodied, refreshing, but not watery. Good sustaining white head. Very nice.

22 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Raleigh (Triangle Town Center). Bottled October 21, 2015. Yellowish-orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of damp pale malt with notes of light citrus peel and wet grass. Taste is good with Earthy hops, faint lemon zest, and pale malt. Finish is clean, crisp, and mildly spicy. Great example of the style.

10 oz draft served in a stemless wine glass at the Brewery in Portland, Oregon. The pour is a clear golden with a white head that coats the glass with lace. The aroma is fresh cracker malt paired nicely with spicy grass hops. The taste is the nose, with fresh cracker malt and the spiced hope, and also adds an interesting herbal note which I liked and a general malt huskiness which I did not. The palate is medium to light bodied with an unfiltered mouthfeel and a mineral herbal dry finish. Fresh and tasty.
