UPDATED: JAN 29, 2019 LCI. Uit de fles geschonken. Tijd is lief voor dit bier: zacht, zoet, bourbon/moonshine, hout, boozy, en nog in balans ook. Topper!

From notes. Enjoyed at a small tasting at Ryan’s work on February 27. 330 mL bottle I got in a trade with Jorrit. Thanks dude. The pour is a nice darker golden orange with a thin ring of lighter gray head and a couple spots of lace as it falls down to a collar. The aroma is interesting. There is a sweet fruitiness about it and a decent malty balance. I am getting a light oak, but nothing like the smoky moonshine that I was expecting. The flavor is much of the same, though there is a lot more of an apple presence. There is a sharper alcohol and a strange barrel happening. The malt and light sweetness don’t really go with the nose. The mouth feel is a little bit lighter of a medium body and a sharper carbonation. The aftertaste is appley and sharper malt with a light oak and a messy malt finish. This one is something else. 7 4 6 3 13

0.33 l bottle from 'Saveur Bière', best before December 2022, cellared for one-and-a-half years. Clear, deep ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and a little boozy aroma of molasses, caramel, vanilla, raisins and some oak. Very sweet, malty, a bit fruity taste of molasses, caramel, vanilla, raisins and some oak, followed by a long, slightly bitter, warming and quite boozy finish. Full body, very oily mouthfeel, almost flat. Heavy sipper, quite boozy but not unpleasant at all, fairly saturating, overwhelming aroma of whisky. Good!

Bottle @ home. Very dark brown reddish color. Small beige head with short retention. Aroma's: sweet, caramel, light butter, a bit boozy. Retronasal it's sweet, boozy, but not overpowering, whisky-ish, some wood, some fruit. Flavor is above moderate sweet, light woody bitter, alcoholic fruity (sourish). Alcohol is warming but not (too) sharp. Long finish with some wood, dark caramel and chocolate, light bitter. Nothing too much, very well done, even after some cellar ageing.

Almost black. Aroma is bourbon flavours, wood sugar, sugars, syrup, chocolate, dark caramel, a hint of schnapspraline. All this vocabulary dos not even come close! Taste is a bit sharp, lots of cinnamon, sweet syrup, still pretty drinkable. Nice. Low carbonation.
