COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a slightly darker color and slightly higher alcohol content than the classic ERDINGER Weissbier 'with fine yeast', the 'winter brew' offers a really pleasant change at the coldest time of the year, a time when we like to treat ourselves to something special. Available between November and February.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2021 500ml Bottles from Beers of Europe (2021) and Rehills, Newcastle (2004). Hazy golden coloured with a thick white head of foam. It has a citrus and spicy fruity flavour with orange, banana and clove on the smooth, warming spicy finish. Good.

Scopey (21884) - Oldmeldrum, SCOTLAND - NOV 12, 2021
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2021 Bottle from HoTM. It pours lightly hazy golden with an orange hue and thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is bready, cereal, grain, sponge cake sweetness, soft banana, warming spice, nutty and cracker. The taste is crisp, dry, touch of bitterness, toasty grains, cereal, wheat cracker, only a touch of green banana, orange peel, floral, slightly soapy, nip of spice, hay, straw, dry grass and dull alcohol with a firmly dry finish. Medium body and fairly high, fluffy carbonation. Decent stuff. Probably not up there with standard Weiss, but not bad.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2020 Bottle online from Beersofeurope. Pours a hazy orange colour with a large thick creamy off-white head. Mild aromas of banana, clove, citrus orange and caramel. Taste has more of the citrus orange notes, a little more caramel and a bit of peppery spice. Medium body with a smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Different type of Weissbier. Nice.

LagerGuide122 (803) - - NOV 2, 2020
UPDATED: NOV 2, 2020 500ml bottle brewed in Germany at 5.6%. Clear gold with a generously large, good-duration head. Classic German bracing grassy hops with some sweet refreshingly crisp malt. Medium carbonation, classic Erdinger foaming wheaty mouthfeel, it could so easily feel overblown but stops just short. Nice, fresh grass meets tangy tangerine hops, and slightly sweeter, slightly darker malt than their typical Weissbier - some definite caramel flavours on top of slight brown bread, but still kept light and clean. Sadly I wasn't able to save this one for a snowy day, but it was a nice treat after working up a sweat on a cold Winter's night (no, I'm not telling!). Swirling the bottle and adding the sediment gives it a little haze and adds some lovely banana to go with that caramel in the malt, and accentuates the light wheat rusk in the aftertaste. Have a couple of swigs without the yeast as an appetiser, then pour the whole bottle out and there's your pudding, that's my advice. A Weissbier for Winter? Does it work? I think so! Bottle a couple months past the Best Before, but was well stored and delish regardless. I must try this when it's snowing some time...

BeardedAvenger (5128) - New Haw, Surrey, ENGLAND - APR 19, 2020
UPDATED: APR 19, 2020 My final not a 750ml bottle from Gabriel/Erzengel. Vielen danke (if my GCSE German serves me). Aroma of banana and cloves. A bronze gold..No cloudiness. Thick foamy white head. Quite tart citrus sour. A good dose of cloves. Only a hint of low key sweetness in the undertow. Light bodied. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Relatively abrupt finish. From memory this is morehin your face than the standard Erdinger. Not bad.
