CanCrusher (1706) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - DEC 26, 2020UPDATED: DEC 26, 2020 Can 0,473L. Pours deep mahagony brown, almost black color with a finger of creamy brown head. Nutty aroma, pecan, tobacco, roasted malt and whiskey. drpimento (6063) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 19, 2020UPDATED: DEC 19, 2020 The aromas are a little solvent upfront then roast, molasses, black patent, dark malt and something spoiled. Flavors are like nose, on the sweet side at first with growing bitterness. Molasses are dominant and the pecan hard to find. I wish it was the other way around. Decent carbonation and full body with a bitter finish.
hallinghansen (5084) - Odense SV, DENMARK - SEP 11, 2020UPDATED: SEP 11, 2020 Can at home. Black body with a small brown head. Chocolate, pecan, nutty, malt, whiskey notes, brown sugar, roasted, bitter dark chocolate, light alcohol notes. Good sipper.
freekyp (3691) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - AUG 7, 2020UPDATED: AUG 7, 2020 This goliath of a beer is packed with nutty flavors, booze muscle, and dense oily thickness. It pours motor oil viscous, back as midnight in Carpathia, and floats a thin but sticky medium brown head. Roasted pecan and molasses are forward in the bouquet with espresso and licorice behind that. A tremendous amount of roast malt delivers plenty of earthy bitterness to dial down the sweet molasses character. It's hot as it slides down the throat, but not overly. This rich sipper belongs in a nice goblet glass next to a fireplace on a cold winter night. Pour it hard for a cool cascade. Impressively decadent.
Stoned99 (2439) - Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 30, 2020UPDATED: JUL 30, 2020 Can at home. Batch 004 (a year old maybe). Aroma: tobacco a lot, alcohol, roasted malt, caramel, not much pecan or not a all. Maybe too much old? App: pitch black with medium beige head leaning towards brown, thick beige lacing. Taste and palate: full body, medium high sweetness, a tad pecan in mouth, dry light bitter finish with a hint of acidity shy behind. Overall: not bad. Not the biggest fan of stouts that sweet even though it's not a sweet stout. Enjoyed the alcohol in the palate but besides that I didn't have that much pleasure drinking it. Maybe would have liked a BA version? I don't know. Good but not memorable.
